For Christmas this year, I received a piece of gear that I have been coveting for a long time now. It has been around for a good few years (as it is the miniature version of the revolutionary Electro-Harmonix POG which is gargantuan in size compared to this thing) so it is not like there are that many of my fellow guitarists out there who haven't heard about this thing, but for those of you who have never heard the velvety-smooth textures of this pitch-shifter and you are looking for something like this to transform your tone, or add some major color to your volume swells like I aim to do, this is a demo you might want to take a listen to.

POG stands for Polyphonic Octave Generator, and it can shift the pitch of your guitar signal with almost zero glitching. For years I have used pitch-shifters like the Digi-Tech Whammy and the Swing Shift(most notably used on "Into the Grey") on the Digi-Tech iStomp, and while they are both great in their own right, they both have that kind of annoying "tracking" sound that I'm not really a big fan of. This device can go full dry or wet without causing that annoying sound almost at all, because of course nobody is perfect ;).

The Micro POG, as I mentioned before, is the condensed, easy-to-use stompbox version of the much larger POG. It only utilizes three knobs: Dry, Sub-Octave and Octave-Up. the Dry knob can take your guitar's signal from full wet to full-dry while still allowing the pitch-shifting to come through however you have the other two knobs set without a lot of glitchy-ness. Sub-Octave provides an octave down from the notes that you are playing, while the Octave-up obviously does the exact opposite.

For this demo, I had to go with An Ending by Brian Eno again, but that is mainly because I cannot believe how amazingly well the pitch shifting works for this song. In this demo, along the waveform, you can see that I have posted the different presets that I used throughout the recording process.
