BIOGRAPHY

It all started in Kiel, a small city in northern Germany. Here is where Fritz Wagner and Marc Wolf met and from where their musical journey as Avidus started. First steps where made on the own imprint established 2014 named EMPORE from where their music managed to get the attention of the scenes renowned heavyweights like Damian Lazarus, Tale Of Us, Fur Coat and many more. With releases on labels such as Oddity, Crosstown Rebels, Hommage or Afterlife they already left a mark and they’re now keen to tell the whole story. Major influences for their music emerge from their duality:
While both unite as instrumentalists, their approaches to search and experiment in jams differ significantly: 

Marc, being the designated and longstanding DJ, not only draws inspiration from the dancefloor but also from his self - taught experiences as a drummer and guitarist; 

Fritz, as an autodidact of piano and the sound - engineer of the bunch is eagerly improving his skills in the studio. That’s where they combine both worlds, working on new Avidus material whenever they can. Within their growing EMPORE family, they try to keep doing what they do and not to loose the
standards they’ve had since day one.

A musician since birth, the Canary Islands’ Alex Medina has engaged in a lifelong commitment to electronic music since 1993. The DJ, live act, producer, promoter, and more recently, label owner has been an active member and mover within the Iberian electronic music community, and continues to expand his reach beyond the Atlantic by way of impelling sets and ingenious productions that not only pique his listeners’ aural verve but also immerse them in multi-sensory experiences. On decks, as a DJ and in live acts, Medina is a wizard, his sets are groovy and psychedelic, deep and complex, versatile and broad, fervently seeking to escape conventionalism, tapping into multi-verses, from house to techno, indie to electronica, and everything in between. Whether through radio shows like D-Votion or Planet Love, in intimate club settings such as Watergate and Der Visionaire, festivals and open air events across continents, Medina navigates dancers to exquisite soundscapes that incite motion and broaden minds. Alternatively, Medina is also occasionally found dishing raregrooves and disco, embracing his passion for jazz, funk, and soul under his Negro Hamaquero moniker. A promoter since the turn of the millenium, behind the scenes at El Guateque, Intro and Splash, Medina not only contributes to but also helped shape the emerging electronic music scene in the archipelago, a movement that has consistently procreated a breed of talents into the international electronic music arena as of late. Founding one of the first record shops in the Islands and working for various record distribution companies in the mainland, Medina is a master-selector by default. His impeccable crate-digging skills transfused seamlessly into fine A&R, as he undertook the role of label head in 2017. And thus Mumbai Records was born. With acclaimed releases, the label has successfully balanced electronic and organic sounds with grace, introducing novel vibes and risky electronica for mature audiences. Releasing on some of the most relevant labels in his niche and beyond, yielding top hits producing may be Medina’s most compelling innate calling, and the community at large is at luck to have his musical genius freely flowing through generous sonic indulgences. His artistic gambit is ambitious and lucrative, sprawling across genres with a signature hypnotic depthness and affective symbiosis, garnering accolades and support from esteemed scene heavyweights, Dixon, Ame, Pete Tong, Solomun, Richie Hawtin, to name a few. An ace in mingling organic house instrumentals and obscure techno elements in atmospheric electronica, Medina is adept in stimulating senses, blending human sensations into the framework of reality, simulating boundless musical journeys by way of emotion and a constant pursuit of curiosity in play.

Really pleased to release the live recording from my set at Coda, Toronto. It is an absolute gift having 3 hours to take people on a journey in this room, on this sound system, with such a receptive crowd. Thank you to the Coda team for all that you do, for making this such a landmark venue in Toronto. 

That night, I was particularly excited to play 'Devil on the Dance Floor', one of my latest unreleased tracks, and some other unreleased gems including one by the legend Glenn Morrison remixed by James Harcourt.

"I am a Ukrainian-born DJ Streamer based in Toronto, Canada. As a veteran in the house & trance music scene, I rediscovered my passion for electronic music while on maternity leave with my son during pandemic lockdown and fell in love with melodic and progressive sounds all over again. Like many of us, I found comfort and healing in music during this challenging time, and it helped me get through the uncertainty of life as a first-time parent while navigating this important life stage in isolation from others. At 37 and as part of my new year’s resolution for 2023, I realized that life was too short and decided to finally learn how to DJ as my ongoing dream from teenage years. 

With the help of online tutorials, Crossfader DJ courses and various online DJ communities – I progressed very quickly and landed a resident DJ spot on Mix365 online radio where I currently host a weekly show called In The Moment With Sashy, mixing my favourite freshest releases in progressive/melodic house and melodic techno. I love to discover up-and-coming producers and showcase their talents through my specially curated mixes. The show is being video livestreamed on the radio’s website and restreamed to my twitch channel attracting hundreds of viewers from all over the world. This guest mix is a live recording from my weekly show to give you a preview of the kind of sound you are expected to hear if you were to join one of my weekly streams."
