Darksidevinyl returns for his first Déepalma release of 2022, enlisting frequent flyer Ucha on remix duties for the mesmerising ‘Mia’.

Back together on Déepalma following their collaborative EP in September 2021, Darksidevinyl and Ucha find themselves united once more on another release - this time taking control of a version each.

Leading the way, Darksidevinyl opens the door to a world of Afro-Latino mastery with ‘Mia’. A concoction of undeniably potent ingredients, building out of a strong and pumping groove and diving deep into the realm of melodic enchantment. Gripping arps and striking brass sections take a dominant position in the mix whilst darkened energy continuously bubbles away in the background - creating an endlessly intriguing charm.

Ucha gives the original track a Saharan twist with his remix. He creates an endlessly rippling momentum with a masterful array of drums, percussion & sampling. Beyond this, the track’s astounding musicality carries you along just above the ground as it melts you down with more of that incredible brass and touching string riffs - supplemented by warming synths and resonant sub-bass throughout.

Following his uplifting 2015 single Holdin On and its techy B-side Faces, Rony Seikaly is back for another release on Yoshitoshi that proves this renaissance man is a force to be reckoned with in modern house music. The two tracks on this EP possess deep grooves, but also flex a fair amount of melodic muscle. They liken back to the sound Yoshitoshi became well known for in its infancy. The Sword centers around some tribal percussion and carefully woven melodic ideas, but the tracks focus is decidedly on low end. A burly, assertive bass gives the mix a driving character suited for late nights. At time it feels like a modern take on progressive house from another era. All Of A Sudden is more or less an extension of the first track, giving the EP defined consistency. Its a delicately arranged and straightforward house feeler; the meat coming from a multitude of interlaced chords and melodies maneuvering carefully over more tribal percussion and a monstrous kick. The mission here is to inspire awe and wonder in dancers, and Seikaly delivers on both accounts.

After remixing AFFKT’s 'Between Us' to wide acclaim last year, UK originator Dave Seaman now returns to Sincopat for his first full release for the label. Led by two original productions, Dave continues his rich vein of form showing a tougher edge to his range or if you prefer we use the slang term… a pair of bangers! 

Not only that, both ’Slippery Beast’ ‘& ‘Heavy Petting’ also come flanked by a brace of remixes from two talented artists currently riding high on the crest of a huge creative wave. Label favourite Just Her and Italian break out stars Moonwalk both work their magic with transformative effect to add a variety of alternative flavours to the menu. A platter to suit all tastes then. French DJ and producer, Dorian Craft makes his debut on Nic Fanciulli’s Saved Records this month with his eagerly awaited, ‘Sei Koya’ EP. With recent successful releases on respected labels including RADIANT, 303lovers, Stereo, MoBlack and Selador and his productions receiving support from tastemakers; Black Coffee, Chus & Ceballos, Nic Fanciulli, Sébastien Léger, Audiofly, Super Flu and radio recognition from Friday night Radio 1 legend, Pete Tong. Music has always been political. Especially electronic music. Electronic music has always been about equality and inclusion. Even though the message has been defused for a while, these days it is more important than ever.

“There are only two ways to respond: Conspiring or fighting it. That’s the message I wanted to express - in a positive way. So I started jamming with my good friend Lazarusman. And we finally finished 'Not Enough' at the end of last year for an upcoming Watergate compilation project that is due in autumn this year.” - Hyenah 

Seeing „Black Lives Matter“ finally gaining momentum we decided to release ‚Not Enough‘ earlier than planned. Mainly to support the movement. And together with Watergate Records we decided to donate all the money being made to  Know Your Rights Camp (https://www.knowyourrightscamp.com). Know Your Rights Camp is a free campaign founded by Colin Kaepernick to raise awareness on higher education, self empowerment, and instructions on how to properly interact with law enforcement in various scenarios.

We all need to fight racism. We need to fight it, wherever we may find it. Including ourselves.
