Elif continues to show her endless list of talents; The Turkish label has enlisted the free spirited talent to compile their latest VA ‘Harabe Nightmares II’.

In a tumultuous year, Elif has been a shining light. From her ABRACADABRA residency which provides escapism and connection at a time we need it most, to stellar original releases on Stil Vor Talent, A Tribe Called Kotori, and remixes on Anjunadeep and AKASHA, she’s used this time to truly focus and flourish. Whether she’s writing a track or creating a set, it’s a compelling journey that draws you in. So it’s no wonder she’s been entrusted with compiling the latest Harabe Nightmares compilation.

The track list features a diverse range of both emerging and established talent, plus Elif and Marat Mode team up on the driving cut ‘Koan’, where a catchy riff meets a building synth top line in a colourful rocketing crescendo.

‘I was thrilled to be asked by Cagdas (Anatolian Sessions), a fellow Turkish producer, to compile this VA’ Elif says. ‘I loved having the opportunity to curate music that I like playing from producers I love and want to support. It took a couple of months to compile and was so fun and so satisfying that it made me consider starting my own label in the future! Harabe is an exciting emerging imprint that I'm happy to be a part of. I am in love with each and every track on the compilation and very proud of all the artists who contributed.’

The Turkish label has been bubbling up since it launched in 2019, releasing heartfelt music that defies typical genre norms. ‘Harabe Nightmares ||’ will join a back catalog of quality and consistency from this indie imprint.

With the outmost pleasure we welcome back Balata on our label with an outstanding Afro House EP called Indlela.

This time he teamed up with a very talented producer from Zimbabwe called K.O.D. and together they created 2 powerful tracks each one of them featuring original vocals from different artists.

The first track we want to introduce is called 'I have learnt'. The song is a mesmerizing and hypnotic voyage starting off with strong and deep kick and percussive rhythm as well as underlying piano synth chords. 'I have learnt' features the voice of Thandoe, a beautiful female artist and poet from Zimbabwe. Her lyrics are intertwined and progress throughout the whole track bringing forward a message that life is always evolving and changing. The whole track carries a very deep and pumping vibe that gets you grooving and is the perfect song starter for your deeper and more progressive afro set.

Indlela opens in classic Balata style. Strong pumping kick and deep elements as well as percussive elements open up the track. A heavy e-guitar cuts in to accelerate the track with synths and sound FX. Omega's vocals are introduced and drive the track forward. Further hats and shakers are introduced and give the track a somewhat samba groove with a multitude of drum fills. A high energetic, upbeat dance track for your main floor Afro House or Latin DJ set

As music has been a continuous journey throughout my life, I believe that its hard to evolve and progress by staying in one area. That being said, since my musical journey migrated from the early hip hop days to electro punk, drum and bass, techno and house, I feel like incorporating all of these influences into my current work. The beautiful harmonies of 'The Sky is Still There' pared with Schörmann's trademark beat manipulation culminates into a gorgeous piece of house music for the ages. Acknowledged for his releases on Einmusika & Natura Viva; Black Space turns 'The Sky is Still There' into an irresistible track like only he can by using the original elements on offer with perfection. Black Space layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed break beat like percussion grooves and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the original. His rework deserves to be branded 'essential' in any sense of the word. 

Next up we welcome back label favorite Allies for Everyone to bring us his take on 'The Sky is Still There'. AFE who needs absolutely no introduction with his array of immense releases on some of the biggest labels out there, delivers a classy organic mix for the ages. His rework creates a good feel vibe from the word go, as the atmospheric and organic vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that continue building to culminate into this amazing groover. The sparseness is key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow and an air of sophistication. Need we say more? 

What better way to close out what has been a memorable 2020 in every sense of the word? Schörmann's 'The Sky is Still There' sees a worldwide release on December 21st, 2020.
