Senzala is a London based DJ and producer, whose darker side has been evolving over the years; with releases on Art Department’s No. 19 as well as Dubfire’s SCI+TEC. Senzala has been responsible for two major collaborations with Jansons: ‘Take Me Away’ and ‘JNZ’ on Richy Ahmed’s FOUR THIRTY TWO label; both gaining respectful places in the Beatport chart. He has received consistent support from all his respected peers in the scene; as well as featuring on BBC Radio 1 with many of his releases.

In 1997 Quenum released a record on Pacific Records alongside Paulo Nascimento. Since then his career has evolved dramatically and he has established himself as an innovative, expressive musician having formulated a thirty year long career in dance and electronic music. He has released material on the likes of Soma, Rebellion, Crosstown Rebels and many more. 

However, earlier this year it was announced that he would be returning to the record label which started it all for him. Pacific Records has recently relaunched and much of the highly sought after material from the late 90's is resurfacing alongside material from friends and family. 

Quenum has attempted to recapture the sound of the label in its formative years with a new EP titled "Express Yourself". The record features dubbed out synth stabs, soft rolling percussion and wonderful deep sensibilities which will delight on the dancefloor.

Above all, QUENUM is a classic DJ whose primary concern is to bring the dancefloor alive and ensure everyone leaves the club happy and fulfilled.

My DJ picture is from the Spacewalk 3 rave in Detroit MI, Skylab 2000 also from LA was there as well.  I could tell Detroit was a gritty hard city, but full of great music and culture. Having released the acclaimed Be Mine on Crosstown Rebels in 2017, Berlin-based Siopis lands on Rebellion with Unconditional, a poignant two-tracker that features the vocals of esteemed DnB lyricist, MC Coppa.

“An interview with Lauryn Hill inspired me to make this release. It blew me away and I felt it straight in my heart, so I wanted to share the deep message that comes from it. I put her vocals into the break of the lead track, and Unconditional was born.” Siopis.

Beginning with the ethereal sounds of Unconditional, the lead track is a journey into electronic music’s spiritual realm, as supple keys vibrate alongside a gently moving bassline. A sample from Lauryn Hill’s iconic speech acts as the breakdown, before the emotive bassline comes back in to pull deeply on our heartstrings. Kaleidoscope feat. MC Coppa completes the release. Bubbling with subtle hats and dreamy pads, the moving cut takes on a tougher edge with MC Coppa’s stirring monologue, whilst Siopis’ flagship club-ready sound features right the way through to form a track that sounds perfect at home, and on the dancefloor.

A prolific producer, Siopis has been carving out a career in electronic music for more than a decade. Previously known under his Silversurfer moniker, he is responsible for some of Crosstown Rebels’ earliest releases, producing 2004’s Parisis and collaborating with Kiki on the seminal Shake Off that same year. Fast-forward to more recent times where continued releases on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels and M.A.N.D.Y’s Get Physical Music have helped define his emotional, dance-oriented sound, whilst frequent performances at clubbing institutions such as Hoppetosse and Golden Gate have established him as a regular on the Berlin circuit. With international sets under his belt at the likes of Miami’s Ocean’s Ten and Mexico’s Americana Club Social, the future continues to shine bright for Siopis.
