In the neon-lit heart of the city, where shadows danced to pulsating beats, there existed a clandestine world. A world where secrets whispered through subwoofers and coded messages echoed in the rhythm of trance music.

Meet Alexei, a DJ with a dual life. By day, he spun records at the Velvet Eclipse, a dimly lit club where the air smelled of sweat and euphoria. But when the moon climbed high, Alexei transformed. He became the Double Agent—the one who navigated the murky waters between rival factions.

His mission was simple: retrieve the encrypted USB drive hidden in the VIP lounge. The stakes? Global security. The players? Unknown. Alexei’s loyalty? Divided.

As the bass dropped, Alexei slipped through the crowd, his eyes scanning for signs. Was it the mysterious woman in the sequined dress? Or the enigmatic man with the scar across his cheek? Everyone was a suspect.

The music swirled around him, cocooning him in its trance. He approached the VIP lounge, heart racing. The USB drive was tucked inside a crystal decanter, disguised as top-shelf vodka. Alexei’s fingers brushed against it, and he hesitated. Loyalty to his agency warred with the allure of freedom—the chance to disappear into the night, leaving behind the life of a Double Agent.

But then she appeared—the woman with eyes like fractured ice. She knew. Her lips curved into a dangerous smile. “Alexei,” she purred, “you’re playing a dangerous game.”

He had no choice. The music surged, and he snatched the USB drive. As he slipped out of the club, he felt her gaze burning into his back. Betrayal hung heavy in the air.

Outside, rain washed the streets clean. Alexei stood at the crossroads—his past and future colliding. The USB drive held secrets that could topple governments or save lives. But it also held his own truth—the reason he’d become a Double Agent.

He pressed play on his trance tune, the bass vibrating through his bones. The melody carried him away, blurring the lines between duty and desire. As the rain soaked his skin, he wondered: Could he find redemption in the rhythm?

And so, Alexei vanished into the night, leaving behind the Velvet Eclipse and the woman who knew too much. His tune echoed through the city, a beacon for those who danced on the edge of secrets.

The 44th Chapter in this story sees the release of JOBE’s My Regrets, featuring the haunting vocals of Haptic and a big Edition from label bosses VVerses.

As ever with JOBE, the EP is a powerful combination of darkness, melody and heft.

Title track My Regrets is true to form, built on a chunky, driving groove that opens into an expansive and euphoric vocal-led peak in which Haptic takes the lead, giving a performance that is typically haunting and emotional. The Dub Edition, meanwhile, offers a useful counterpoint that smooths out the highs of the original.

Up next, the VVerses Lessons Learned Edition is a blissful combination of new wave-influenced broken beat, delayed basslines and dripping acid. Haptic’s vocal, transformed into an impersonal and heavily vocodered robotic presence, holds the track together as it culminates into choppy ravey chords that channel a Balearic feel.

Final track Luma is an ominous afro tech roller, big dusty drums encasing a central arp that ups the ante and is bound to make the dancefloor bounce. Interweaving synths relentlessly build the tension to a crescendo.

Now following an EP for Adana Twins’ TAU imprint to begin the year, MULYA debuts on microcastle with 'Chrome Extra'. 

Spread across five tracks, MULYA’s microcastle debut is an eclectic blend of electronica, disco, indie-dance and melodic house. Emotionally charged throughout, the journey begins with the broken beats and electric grooves of ‘Out of Sync’. It’s pensive overlays and warped arps make for a compelling first act, before a cinematic break shifts the narrative into a tense yet spirited finale of pulsating rhythms and tantalizing acid hooks. The energy continues to rise with the disco-infused grooves of ‘Frisco’. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, punchy kicks and detailed percussion create waves of energy at the outset. Fiery lines add mightily to it’s hypnotic drive, eventually melting down into a canopy of charming overlays. As the breakdown reaches a euphoric peak a flurry of drums transfers energy into an exhilarating drop and thrilling final movement.
