With their Shutdown Ep, Stephan Zovsky & FiveP prove that cooperation and friendship always lead to the best results. "The Aftermath" builds up an almost dramatically gloomy mood, which is swayed up to a euphoric harmony firework. "Rebirth" is of a completely different kind and transports the listener into the first row of a sunrise that has become sound.

In his version of "Rebirth" Manuel Meyer reconstructs and decelerates what happened and spices it up with a good portion of pressure.

Marco Cinquepalmi aka "FiveP" was born in Castellana Grotte, Bari - Italy, now he lives in Bari. He discovered his passion for house music when he was 16 years old and he started mixing music two years later. When it comes to music, Stephan Zovsky turns out to be a man of extremes: If quiet, than quiet as it can be. If rocking, than rocking as it can be. His easy-going character moderates between atmospheres and moods that are very different. He merges them into one harmonic formula.

The Flow Musique label has been bringing its own brand of percussive house music to the fore since its launch in 2014, with label boss Pepe Mateos a driving force, not only as A&R but also as a pivotal artist in the imprint’s development. Away from his Flow Musique Mateos has also featured on key labels like Little Helpers and Oblack and has built a solid reputation both as producer and DJ.
 
This latest musical offering sees the artist in fine form, turning in a track that explores the current space race, as state players and billionaires push for a sky full of satellites and a charge towards Mars! ‘In Space’ is a deep and rolling slice of house music with a sci-fi feel as a spoken word vocal offers a future advert for psychedelic pharmaceuticals.
 
The original is backed with a brace of remixes, opening with an offering from Luna City Express man Norman Weber who turns in a delightfully deep and emotive reworking built on smooth chords and loose percussion. Columbia’s Matheo Velez comes next with a spacious and minimal tech workout that is simply sublime before Edgar Peng closes things down with a deep house gem.
 
This is another surefire winner from Pepe Mateos and Flow Musique which is further elevated by three sterling remixes.

To say Stephan Zovsky's career started in 2019 would be wrong. It would omit any mention of the two decades of DJing he’s got under his belt already, with countless gigs all over the place. It would omit any mention of his 2010 album ‘The Village’, produced with long-year musical partner Sandro Schäufler. It would omit any mention of his first set as Green Lake Project in 2016. No, to say his career started in 2019 would be plain out wrong.

Yet 2019 is a milestone year in the life of this prolific creative from Mecklenburg Vorpommern, that rural North-Eastern corner of Germany. It's the year his ‘Connect EP’ is out on 3000Grad Records, the first of a perpetual string of releases. It's the year Stephan Zovsky starts his own label Sueslide, a launching pad for his growing musical output that finally meets his notoriously high quality standards towards himself. It's also the year ‘GLP’ drops - the debut album of Green Lake Project, his successful joint venture with Mollono.Bass.

His ever increasing skill level as a DJ and producer resonates intensely with the scene and its dancefloors: His tracks rank high in prestigious charts. His inbox is flooded with remix requests, some even from rather remote music scenes like Indie or Trance. He is invited to perform his Stephan Zovsky liveact at Fusion Festival's famous Turmbühne in 2021.

His diverse background and tireless productivity make it impossible to pin Stephan Zovsky down to a particular genre. Anyway, mentioning his name in one breath with the term ‘Melodic Techno’ doesn't make him frown; the terms ‘tool-like’, ‘DJ-oriented’ or ‘club-ready’ make him smile. You won't hear him playing obvious bawl-along hits, but neither will you hear him playing nerdy, overly intellectual tunes. His understated, functional style sits comfortably in the middle, making him the perfect prime time artist for those moments when it's all about no-frills, strictly-thrills dancefloor ecstasy.

Es ist das Jahr, in dem 'GLP' erscheint, das erste Album von Green Lake Project, seinem erfolgreichen Gemeinschaftsprojekt mit Mollono.Bass.

Seine beständig wachsende Kunstfertigkeit hinterlässt in der Szene und auf ihren Dancefloors einen deutlich spürbaren Eindruck: Seine Tracks tauchen regelmäßig in viel beachteten Charts auf. Ihn erreichen immer mehr Anfragen für Remixes, sogar aus recht weit entfernten Szenen wie etwa dem Indie- oder Trance-Umfeld. Mit Blick auf seinen vielfältigen Hintergrund und seine unermüdliche Produktivität ist es schlichtweg unmöglich, Stephan Zovsky einem bestimmten Genre zuzuordnen. Wenn wir ihn in einem Atemzug mit dem Begriff 'Melodic Techno' erwähnen, dann runzelt er zumindest nicht die Stirn; wenn wir Begriffe wie 'toolartig', 'DJ-tauglich' oder 'tanzflächenkompatibel’' verwenden, dann schmunzelt er. Vorhersehbare Mitgröhl-Hits gibt es von ihm ebenso wenig zu hören wie allzu verkopften Frickel-Sound. Mit seinen funktionalen und doch subtilen Sets passt er ideal in jene Art von Spitzenzeit, in der es ganz ohne Hype und Schnickschnack einfach nur gediegen zur Sache gehen soll.
