Today we're happy to announce an up-and-coming artist from Moscow, Russia, behind the Schirmchendrink counters. Her favorite cocktail is a Cuba Libre, the one she mixed for us features compelling progressive and deep house grooves, making sure you get moving on this monday morning. Join us in welcoming Forty Cats!

Forty Cats, or Christina Gavrilova with her real name, is one of a few female Russian producers whose tracks have been supported on the global stage. Having entered the scene only a couple of years ago she has already built up a reputation with releases on well known labels such as This Never Happened, Silk Musik and Manual Music. Her deep and intelligent sound truly stands out and resonates with the progressive house- as well as the melodic and deep house communities.

A kickstarter to her career was a remix of Lane 8's Don't Let Me Go on This Never Happened, the label run by Lane 8 himself. Two further EPs followed on his label and the list of supporters of her music grew continuously.

It's awesome that we get to feature these talents on our show. Thank you, Christina, for this uplifting mix. And thank you for including lot's of upcoming gems of you. We love it!

LineØrCircle has been behind the decks since he was barely toilet-trained, when he rifled through his parents’ vast and eclectic record collection and started experimenting with the controls on their old walnut-veneered record player. He grew up in a profoundly musical household, his parents being professional musicians who put him into classical piano and jazz guitar lessons from the moment he had enough motor control in his hands to hold a guitar pick.

He is nonetheless a completely self-taught DJ, buying all the necessary gear with money saved up from a part-time job as a dishwasher and learning by bringing a new piece of musical technology home, plugging it in, and pushing all the buttons until something happened. The first record he bought was a now-out-of-print EP of Anouar Brahem, Les pats du chat noir which includes “Leila au pays du carrousel”.

He began playing in local bars and clubs in his hometown of Beirut, getting his first break when the DJ called in sick at a local pub where he washed dishes. He soon blew up in Beirut and began playing in Decks On the Beach. He has since enjoyed immense success, blowing up dance floors across the globe (OK, OK, mostly around Venues in Beirut) to sold-out crowds. He has shared the decks with the likes of Nick Warren, Sebastien Leger, Kiasmos, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski to name a few.

He is also a prolific and respected producer, having released two albums and 10 EPs since he got up this morning. His most recent mega-hit track has been charted by every single fucking DJ listed on Resident Advisor and Discogs combined, with support from all the leading DJs signed to any label that ever mattered—plus his grandma.

LineOrCircle musical genres reflects his eclectic influences—from high-modernist integral serialism to jazz-funk fusion to Armenian epic poetry to oriental—all distilled down to pure, crystalline minimal techno. He’s not limited to minimal techno, instead combining disco, slow house, Ketapop, electronic and deep house to create a new sound that the entire staff of Pitchfork has been trying to name for the last year (the senior what-is-this-electronica-crap editor suggested “jigglestep” and then resigned in shame).

Recently, this guy has been collaborating with artists and producers to create “Living Room Sessions” - Beirut. A concept where the crowd can get intimate with the producers, inviting artists to play live and not mix on decks. He has been all over Europe and the MENA Region searching for new talents to boost this concept. LineOrCircle is now a sound explorer, a frequency designer and noise maker...

Tantum started his passion for music from a young age. Initially crafting music as a guitarist, he gained lots of instrumental experience before moving on to electronic music. Having honed his skills for nearly half a decade, his passion for electronic music stems from his love of soulful melodies through analog synths and driving grooves inspired by modern progressive house and techno.

After his 2020 debut on Guy J’s label Lost & Found, 2021 has proven to be even more fruitful with his second EP on Lost & Found, his debut collab single on Lane 8’s “This never Happened” label, and 4-track EP on Radikon. Not to forget many other records which have received great support among the scene. Despite the uncertain situation surrounding us these days, Tantum will be sure to continue the upward trajectory with lots of music yet to come.

His music, which has been released on labels like Lost & Found, Monaberry, Poker Flat Recordings, Einmusika (EIN2), Juicebox Music, Radikon, and Mango Alley continues to see steady support by the likes of Guy J, Lane 8, ZHU, Jonas Saalbach, Eelke Kleijn, Tim Engelhardt, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Ziger, Kasper Koman and many more.

Whether you catch him playing a live show or a DJ set, you will soon recognize that his distinct style between techno and house music will be an everlasting experience, filled with driving beats and euphoric moments.

Captivated by house & techno music from growing up in the 90’s LA rave scene, AlKemiss EriKa began her journey as a San Francisco DJ before becoming a full time mother took her away from the scene - although her love for the music and desire to play music lived on.

Fast forward a couple of decades and she has once again found herself dedicated to her craft with more passion and desire to bring music that connects people on the dance floor and move them from the heart.

AlKemiss Erika is rapidly re-emerging in San Francisco and beyond…sharing the stage with many world renowned artists such as Marques Wyatt, Armen Miran, Volen Sentir, Sahar Z, Jimi Jules, Kora, Sabo, and many more. Playing at many iconic venues in SF - Audio, The Midway, Public Works…and traveling internationally to Panama to Radio Venao gatherings as well as being a beloved resident DJ at Cielos in the high desert of Southern California.

Orchestral, Tribal, Deep, Melodic, Progressive, Desert and Atmospheric vibes are the soundscape you will find on the dance floor with AlKemiss at the helm. She is dedicated to her craft and is diving into production as well.
