Deepicnic Podcast 360 - V:SONNTAG

The guest in this episode is Odd Hills, a Lithuanian born, London based techno DJ, co-founder of Temple.Recordings and event series Temple.Invites. He also manages podcasts series called Temple.Prayer.

His love for electronic music began from a young age, but it wasn’t until he emigrated to the UK that he identified his true sound and style. Incorporating hypnotic, dark and melodic elements with experimental sounds, his unique style truly takes listeners on a mesmerising journey. His hard work and dedication to the scene has led him to play across a range of clubs in London, as well as in Glasgow and Vilnius. 

The lack of physical events across the past few years has led to increased focus on the Temple.Prayer podcast series, which features a broad spectrum of techno styles, allowing up and coming DJs a chance to showcase their work, alongside international heavy-hitters.

The guest in this episode is an Italian artist, Pyramidal Decode. He is the pseudonym of a Techno polyhedral producer.

In 2015 he started a duo called “Ort3d” publishing his dub techno works. In 2017 he created Pyramidal Decode releasing his tracks in labels such as Subsist records, DeadCert rec., SK Black, Labrynth, Parabola records. and many more.

His music can be hardly be defined, but it spaces out between ambient techno and hard industrial, coming out as a mind-bending anxious calming trip.

Parallel to his most-recognized facet within the Techno, He turns his attention towards experimental environments and ambient/deep fields, leading the listener to a state of awakening.

Founder of SRIE Records, label established since 2013, where along with Pulso they deliver quality, precise and conceptual releases.

He's part of the Argentinian scene delivering conceptual releases in recognized labels such as Axis, Warm Up, SEMANTIC/\, Edit Select, Float, AWRY and his own imprint previously mentioned: SRIE.

Besides his production aspect, Translate is also in charge of the cover designs of the SRIE physical catalogue, putting abstract drawings and paints, an implied expression of ideas concerning the unconscious and the mind.

The guest in this episode is Martyn Päsch, the owner of KVLTÖ Records continues to rise in the global scene of Electronic Music. In his work as a producer, we can find a wide range of styles varying from Deep Techno, Experimental, Ambient and Abstract Sounds of Techno.

The guest in this episode is a São Paulo based artist, Anders (BR). He began his career in 2000 as a DJ performing in several clubs and important events around Brazil and Argentina, sharing the DJ booth with renowned Djs such as Pascal Feos, Vitalic, David Carreta, Tin Taylor among others. In 2008 Anders started dedicating himself to music production and could see his tracks being released by a number of relevant techno labels. 

He is also resident Dj of the project "CONTRA" (são Paulo) and label owner and A&R of Primitive State Records, one of the most respected imprints of the brazilian underground techno scene, that features a great variety of heavy and mental techno tracks, just as its owner does.

Deepicnic Podcast 426 - Akob

The guest in this episode is a Polish artist, Aisha Cue. She had her life musically marked by Electronic music, in particular, Techno underground, Hypnotic, Industrial and Experimental. Aisha is a member of the Turkish label from Istanbul - Now You Tech. She is working also with substratum Records Berlin and Let's Techno.

She kicked off with underground warehouses, bunkers and forts, which she has stuck to ever since, spending more and more time with people of this great and flourishing underground scene, her devotion to music continued to grow.

In March 2022 Aisha Cue started her new cycle in Poznan's Schron, called Entsperrt, which will be hosting artists from Berlin's techno scene, who are residing/playing in clubs like Tresor,  KitKat etc

In the past she has performed in clubs like Transformator (Wrocław), Schron and Projekt LAB (Poznań), Luzztro (Warszawa), as well as during different techno festivals and many “Private events”.

Deepicnic Podcast 427 - Aisha Cue

The guest in this episode is 01100110, a Techno DJ and composer from Berlin. In their productions, 01100110 is constantly seeking for new rhythms and landscapes of sound. They have published music on @planetrhythmrec , @trau-ma and their personal imprint @eatm_records . 

As a DJ, 01100110 has grown up in Berlins queer and left scene underground. They like to play a dark and athmospheric sound that is sometimes mystic and melancholic, sometimes harsh and disobedient. Their music is cross-inspired from their musical roots, which are situated a bit off from the „oldschool" techno genre. Industrial, Goth Music, Dark Ambient, Medieval Music and Harsh Noise are just a few to name of those. 

They are a resident of the booking agency @granitsouls , which supports queer and/or female artists.

Deepicnic Podcast 428 - 01100110

The guest in this episode is an Italian artist, Alberto Tolo. Throughout his sets and productions, he focuses on groovy and powerful rhythms to maintain full energy on the dance floor. 

Alberto started producing electronic music in the early 2000s and soon he released his first EP and never stopped since. In 2010 his EP was released under a well-respected label, SCI+TEC. 

After his experience and success with minimal techno, he decided to move into more raw sound with the first release on Kaiserdisco's label KD RAW. This release has changed his vision of Techno and kicked off his new journey by releasing tracks on excellent labels such as Remain Records, Octopus, Alleanza, Planet Rhythm, Dolma Rec. and more.

Deepicnic Podcast 429 - Alberto Tolo

The guest in this episode is a Spanish artist, Bernardo Hangar. His career spans several decades so he is a true veteran of the Andalusian Techno scene since he was one of the first genuinely underground DJs in the community.

Born in Córdoba, Bernardo began his career influenced by Hip Hop, although the explosion of Electronic Music ended up changing his style and making him one of the most avant-garde and risky artists in southern Europe.

It was normal, at that time (the 90s) to see him walking his suitcase of vinyl -in which some classics are worth their plastic in gold- through the best clubs in all of Spain, as well as some of the most important festivals that were celebrated... Also beyond the borders in countries like France or Germany.

After a long period of learning and hard work, he decided to create his own label DarkForest, where he searches for new soundscapes committed to the darkest side of nature, releasing his first EP “Starting Point” in September 2016, That drives him as a producer to combine releases on his label with productions and remixes for other world labels such as (Analog Solutions, Modularz, Default Series...)

Millimetric, forceful and dark, the music of Bernardo Hangar has not only not lost an iota of the strength it had when it began, but listened to today –in an age of tireless copying of the past-, it seems just as necessary as then.

The guest in this episode is Raul Young, a fresh talent from the Hungarian techno scene. He made his appearance at numerous important electronic music events. He had gigs at the Sziget Festival, at Balaton Sound and on numerous occasions, he played at the earlier Corvin Club, in Akvárium Klub, on The Etiket and on the Carbon series. He was invited to play at various clubs in England, France, Serbia, Croatia, in the Czech Republic and in Austria as well. 

As a producer, his works were released by such labels as Marco Bailey's Materia, the legendary Planet Rhythm, Phobiq, Nervous Records, Silver M, Say What? , Amazing Records just to name a few. His productions were played by Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriati, Marco Bailey, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, Julian Jeweil, Umek, Cristian Varela, Karotte, Jay Lumen, Fabio Florido, Ramon Tapia and many more well-known names. 

Recently in the western part of Hungary he began his own club nights under the label Illegal Control, co-owned by him and Baluca.

Deepicnic Podcast 436 - SRNZ

The guest in this episode is a Porto based artist, Morsil. She and techno are a case of overwhelming and unbridled passion. One of those types that happen at first glance, without context or explanation. A relationship as unlikely as late, since not even her first contact with music has made it predictable. Fan of metal and rock, influenced by friends, and later hardcore and drum n' bass, it is through these styles that she has first entered the world of electronic music. 

Born in the 90s, in Porto, she is part of a generation that embraced first hand the growth of the techno scene in Portugal. As she reached the age to go clubbing, clubs like Gare, Industria and Lux increased their offer and turned this country into a desirable destination for the best Techno artists in the world. Names like Oscar Mulero and Regis are the example for many and Morsil is no exception. However, all this would not be enough to make her what she is today. The absorption of various styles and musical trends, the generational influence are clearly key factors. But the rest comes from her own innate abilities: complete control of space and time as soon as she takes her role in the booth, unpredictability combined with an intrinsic ability to go beyond borders, not imposing limits on her eclecticism, and at the same time always keeping her musical line: music with texture, hypnotic obscurity, heavy, hard and mechanical movements, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but always with the ability to transport. Playing with light and different atmospheres and converging it on a main goal, which is to make the listeners dance. Preferably with eyes closed, embracing the darkness of the trip.

Deepicnic Podcast 437 - Morsil

The guest in this episode is Dry Wet, a duo of electronic music in Serres Greece comprised of George Hantas (born in 1990) and Nikos Vlagoidis (born in 1988). Their passion for electronic music began at a very young age as they had already, each separately, been mixing and playing music, while they were still amateurs at the age of 15, primarily progressive-house sounds.

Their paths crossed in Thessaloniki in 2007 when George Hantas decided to move there in order to study Music Technology, while Nikos Vlagoidis was already there for studies after his graduation from the Music school of Serres.

They quickly realized that they shared the same views and ideas about music so, they decided to create the project Dry Wet and start as a duo.

In 2009 they began to experiment in music production. They have been producing their own tracks ever since with releases on Monique Speciale, Addeepted, Black Nemesis, Syncopate, Hardwandler records and the Greek Shift Audio Digital. Their sound is mostly based on dance kick drums and groovy basslines, mixed with techno elements.

They do gigs in several places in Greece while it is worth mentioning their appearance at Reworks festival where they opened the CU Stage.

Deepicnic Podcast 438 - Dry Wet

The guest in this episode is a Colombian artist, Daniel Zuluaga aka Klavier. He is the co-founder of the Medellin based project called Metropolitan which was founded in 2018. He spent a lot of time exploring sounds before discovering the style of electronic music that suited him best.

With deep atmospheres and groove-inspired nuances, his sets capture and envelop listeners with a hypnotic ambience. He is currently developing a Live format, Elemental Map, alongside Santiago Hurtado a.k.a SHG, as well as joining forces with other projects such as Black Hole Collective to encourage new proposals in the city.

Deepicnic Podcast 439 - Klavier

The guest in this episode is an artist from Buenos Aires, UMA Soundsystem. He always had a special relationship with music but he took it seriously in 2015 and started mixing. 

After creating an audiovisual project featuring local DJs, he began organizing parties that became well known in the region. He started producing music in 2018 and after a short learning process, he released his first EP in the same year. 

A track of his was included in a Subsist Records compilation last year, as well as his first LP for Diffuse Reality. Among his other achievements in 2022, he published music at Dynamic Form Records and soon joined Subsist too. 

He is currently working on a new LP for Diffuse Reality.

DJ, producer, and psychologist. his sound moves away from the simplified conventional techno and follows a dark, hypnotic, radical approach. According to Kymvalon, music can be a more powerful and advanced way of communication than verbal language, and under certain conditions, it also has the potential to be therapeutic and lead to catharsis.

His in-depth knowledge and expertise in psychoanalysis, along with his awakened sensibility to sound design, provide him the necessary tools to use as a way of inducing hypnosis by fostering focused energy and attention on various repetitive and progressive sounds such as mind-expanding, droning atmospheres, mystical, tribal rhythms, spacey and penetrating sound effects, suspenseful and apprehensive breaks, rich and distinct low frequencies, and explorative, shifting soundscapes between light and dark, meditative sonic dimensions.

Kymvalon recently released music on Dynamic Reflection and Corpus Black. He’s planning to release his first album on a well-respected and reputable label for the underground music scene soon.

Deepicnic Podcast 442 - Juan Campos

The guest in this episode is a French artist, Romain Richard.  His first contacts with the world of music come to him during his youth thanks to his older brother, who listened to hip-hop. But what he was passionate about, when he was still a kid, was house and techno. He was fascinated by both the hip house melodies of Todd Terry and those of the creators of Detroit techno such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson.

Romain began to play when his brother bought two plates and a mixer, in 1996. The culture of deejays, in full explosion at this time, was really his link with electronic music. He began to play in different clubs in France and Belgium where he became quite popular, fascinating the public with his fast and surprising art as a DJ. In fact, he dealt with it through his incendiary sessions, which ride between techno, house and classic Detroit themes.

In Catalonia he appeared in several clubs such as Row 14, the torn de nit, or El Zentraus, where he had a residence for many years. In addition to that, he performed in clubs and festivals in Serbia, such as the well-known EXIT Festival. In addition to a career as a DJ, Romain is producing his own music. His music differs from the rest of techno productions that have appeared in recent times by deploying, along with hard and forceful rhythms, his passion for the more experimental and old-school techno sounds, declaring himself totally influenced by people like Jeff Mills or Joey Beltram.

In recent times he is busy developing his own sound, an elegant mix of 90s techno with the most current sound, aimed at both young Techno lovers and old romantic Detroit sound.
