Movement Radio - Episode 134

Emerging Baltimore techno duo Drakonian first began to turn heads late last year with their heavy hitting Blood Stream series on Twitch. Since, the two have released 4 unrelenting, dark acid and techno tracks through their independent label Nocturnus Recordings. The most recent cut, “One of Us” flips the script, showing a softer side of what these two can do.

Meant for when those late nights turn into early mornings, “One of Us” immediately hits ears with resonating, deep bass. An airy break with sizzling snares builds into the first drop, which features wispy vocals and spinning synths on top of thick, kicking bass. At the breakdown, revving engine samples and popping percussion push into the second drop, which see the duo layer shuffling mids over a driving, full bass line, creating a unique vibe that seamlessly intertwines elements from classic house and dark techno.
