Next up on the excellent VIVa MUSiC label is a track from the head Honcho himself, Mr Steve Lawler with a truly special collaboration. Teaming up with a true pioneer, the legend that is Arthur Baker.

Steve we’re sure needs no introduction, you would be hard pushed to find a more in-form, in-demand, talented artist, regarded as highly by his industry peers as he is by his huge global base of musically educated fans. A child of the acid house generation, and an instrumental player in the Electronica scene as we know it. His releases have appeared on the likes of R&S Records, Hot Creations, Drumcode, Cocoon, Knee Deep, 8Bit, Rekids, Soma, Skint and of course his own label VIVa MUSiC.  

VIVa was found in 2006 and quickly became a platform where many artists launched their careers. It has also released music from the industry’s leading players including Jamie Jones, Davide Squillace, Luca Bacchetti, Bushwacka, Livio & Roby, Sante, Groove Armada and Peace Division amongst many others.

Most of us have listened and probably sung along to Arthur baker’s remixes and productions, without having any idea of his involvement. Some names he could drop into the equation would be New order, Pet Shop boys, Bob Dylan & Rockers Revenge. Working over at Tommy Boy Records NYC, Arthur produced Africa Bambaataa & their seminal ‘Planet Rock’ single, a pioneering record that helped define an era.

Kicking off the package is ‘Into The Groove’, a quality, heads down, get lost in the moment, underground groove with a hypnotic vocal that is set to blow cobwebs out of those under used sound systems. Next up are VIVa favourites Amine Edge & Dance, who keep the driving bass feel, adding some Acid, Synth stabs and manipulation of the vocal to deliver another Dancefloor winner. Their second remix takes things a bit more breakbeat ‘esque, adding another blast of energy to the production.

Jansons bring their take to the package, taking things slightly funkier with a wicked bass groove that is all set to do some clubland damage. Last but certainly not least is Andre Salmon, who rounds off the package nicely with his interpretation.
