For the 5th instalment of our series we welcome Galo. A young selector hailing from Israel who we connected with here on the cloud and got to know a little better over the last few years sharing music together and bonding over our mutal love music.  Galo is resident DJ and an integral part of The Breakfast Club in Tel Aviv whose outlook and programming share a similar curation & aesthetic to our own parties.  He's given us a beautiful mix that would sit perfectly at the beginning of a night, inviting you with dreamy ambient textures, swampy prog, tribal nodders and re-pitched acid trance.

This week we leap into the astonishing record collection of Jaye Ward, one that has been amassed across 30+ years within the music scene. The mix is a 3 hour voyage through ambient electronics, chuggy, percussive goodness packed with character, oddities and surprises from the furthest corners of her collection. A masterclass in selection and technical know-how. Hello everyone and welcome back! This is the 50th episode of the series if you can believe it, and joining me this month is none other than Francesca Faccilongo, also known as @PaquitaGordon.

When I created the series in 2017, it was just a small idea I came up with and pitched to some friends before starting out with literally zero idea what I was doing, aside from that I wanted to tell stories in a different way. Although I’m not a music maker myself, I’ve always been passionate about music and creativity, and it’s been such an incredible experience to meet so many like-minded artists, to hear their stories of triumph and failure, to dig into their creativity and artistry… And of course to share that all with you.

Onto today’s episode, which features Italian DJ Paquita Gordon, a resident of festivals like Terraforma and Waking Life, and a true musical devotee. A DJ for over a decade now, she’s spent time in London, Mallorca, and Sicily, bringing with her a deep love of music, creativity, and nature. Her mixes are meticulous and thoughtful, with each record well-researched and purposefully chosen. Her DJ sets are storytelling in its truest form, and playing out, for Paquita, is the best part of her job. Her site-specific performance project Il Vulcano invites artists to join in her in different Mediterranean regions for a jam session that is recorded, but never shared. Her goal as an artist is always to form links, whether that’s through sound, through art, through nature, or beyond, she is always seeking connectivity rather than publicity. She finds joy in the making of things, rather than solely in the end result. In this conversation, we explore her creativity, and the musical and artistic connections that make up a life spent loving music.

@soundslikeolivas || Teresa and Lucía, the Spanish-born/Melbourne-based DJ duo have made quite the splash since uniting under their Olivas project. Passionate about records and widely known for playing all-vinyl sets, they've quickly become a staple of the local music scene.

When they’re not spinning wax at venues all around the city, they keep busy with running two of their own radio shows, Deep Digging on KISS FM (which recently featured an Echocentric showcase mix - thanks for that!) and Wax Paradox on Hope St. Radio. They also curate parties under their Wax Paradox banner as well as Winyl - a party pairing for lovers of wine and vinyl. 

The mix is an spot-on representation of their approach - deep cosmic electronics across a genre palettte.
