Splore 2021 was special. We partied with freedom and an awareness that we may have been the only festival on the planet celebrating the joy of life, the love of music, the comradery of friends and family. If you're out there in the rest of the world watching us, please find some hope in our celebration. When you can party again I'm sure there will be a huge release and boundless love. On Waitangi Day morning we were honoured to play the closing set for 2023's Taniwha's Den. It was a beautiful morning and the cathedral of trees was humming with the sound of cicadas, as it transpires, they like house and techno! There are a few people who we would like to thank for making this happen.

Grant and Leon thank you for trusting us with this years close, the Den stage is such an unbelievable setting and playing at the end of it all was such an incredible experience.

To Mike and Pete, once again the sound was out of this world! Every year it gets better, you are both magicians.

To the VJs, DJs, crew and volunteers, thank you for making our time onsite such a pleasure, we had the most insane amount of fun all weekend and already can't wait to do to all again.

Huge love and thanks to the amazing Miss B for the image, HAZARD WARNING!

TO ALL OF YOU DANCERS! Wow, what a floor to play for! Thank you for coming on the ride with us, we will never forget this morning and a huge part of that is because of your energy you brought. thank you, thank you, thank you.

And finally, our crew slash backup dancers, Bronte, Lara, Lawrence, Nikki and Tina, it was so much fun having you all in the booth with us, and so much fun out of the booth as well. The love, laughter and support you all gave us means the absolute world.

We loved every minute in that booth playing for everyone on that floor, it was a magical morning, it was a privilege and a joy to share COMMUNICATE with you all at the Den for the first time.We hope you all enjoy listening to this as much as we loved playing it. Shipwrecked Festival 2023 ***The Janky Mermaid***

To celebrate one of my favorite albums of all-time (if not my number 1 favorite!) I put together this rework. Do not expect an official release.

Ahhhhhhhhh, this was so special. One of the most beautiful Saturdays. I look out to see you incredible sunkissed creatures moving your bodiesssss. Helping us celebrate this momentous occasion is rising star YARNFUNK. (AKA Janik Levien.)

LO-fi has had the pleasure of being there in the moment, witnessing YARNFUNK push people around the dancefloor with his bubbling housey sound and his positive upbeat charm. It was a surprise to learn that he was only 2 years into his  journey at the ripe old age of 22. 

We feel here at LO-FI he will rise through the ranks like a techno rocket and thought best we show him a little attention and LO-FI love.

So about the man himself....

Janik was exposed to the sounds of bleeps and bops at a young age by his father, however the bug didn't bite until 2018 when a summer spent partying in Aotearoa opened his eyes and ears to the magic that spinning tunes brings. 

Carlluci land Festival was the final catalyst, the blood that boiled in his Father's veins was now playing its part and it was time to get busy.

Looking up to some of our scenes movers and shakers such as Ferksta and Logan Baker, and taking notes on how they craft their sound but also how they push our scene as well. Festival hopping (Last place on earth. Aum, DiCE and Shipwrecked huge highlights), and a regular fixture at parties, Yanik was moulding his musical outlook. Add to this countless hours spent crate digging his heart out discovering international sounds from the likes of Chris Stussy, Rossi, and the Funktionality mixes from Dj Dimsa, Catching sets from Jake Rattler, Mood Control. Phillipa, Jamie Sisley to name a few....his sound was being formed from his music addiction.
The result of all this sonic stew running behind his ears has formed a jacking, bumping, weaving, positive house sound, that keeps people shuffling and engaged.

Realising that it's not enough to just spin a few tunes he's pushed his energy and love into The Busy Movement project. Preaching our sound and ethics to the more rural towns of N.Z.
Utilising his art skills, build skills, decoration, sound, light design and people pleasing skills these events are put together to please your senses on all fronts.

The 60 mins 29 secs he's turned in is a perfect musical polaroid of what he's all about.
