Nevena Stankovic aka Tsunamica is a digger, selector, vinyl collector, journalist, radio host, DJ, party starter... but above all, an absolute music lover with a PhD in Political Science from Belgrade, Serbia.
Her interest in music began very early, as a child, she started to play the piano and completed music school. Her love for music developed rapidly as well as modern technology, the piano was soon replaced by turntables and music consoles. 

If we have to choose a word that represents her style and vision, that would be “eclectic”. She plays whatever suits her at the moment, her sound is seductive that goes from the most elegant downtempo and chillout to deep hypnotic and Balearic beats. Passing through a slow-burning cosmic disco, acid house, and freaky space sounds ‘till explosive Italo bombs and late 70s and 80s the wildest disco and Yugo jewels which is resulting in a cosmic mixture that makes her sets a real interplanetary experience.

She likes to blend genres and epochs, strong beats with smooth acid-tinged melodies, traditional and ethnic with modern and tribal sounds. Her exotic downtempo and slo-mo selections are influenced by a multitude of cultures from around the world. A fusion of musical styles and her solar mood are always keeping her in good vibes and well connected with the club crowds, whilst the club scene is paying attention to what comes next on her turntables. 

DJ-ing for more than 10 years and involved in the underground music scene for over 15 years, there are no Dj names of the scene's prime movers and shakers that she has not been involved alongside with them in some way - hosting, djing, promoting.
Inspired and learned from the best such as Jose Padilla, DJ Harvey, Todd Terje, Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Sean Johnston, Phil Mison, Kenneth Bager, Gilles Peterson, Beppe Loda, Daniele Baldelli, Felix Dickinson, Curses, Cosmo Vitelli, Manfredas, Scott Fraser, Richard Sen, Justin Strauss, Juan MacLean, Eric Duncan, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and many more, her selections and mixing are skillful, recognizable and very unique, guided by the heart.
Currently, she is broadcasting a weekly radio show about Balearic and chillout music, named The Sunset Lovers on Ibiza radio, where she is showcasing regular mixes from high-caliber guests. She is also hosting another resident show 'Cosmic Carousel' on radio D59B, where she is presenting more obscure cosmic disco records taking her audience on real intergalactic journeys.

The latest State Mix comes via Warriors of The Dystotheque, the brain child of Jonny Mac from Ireland who this last 15 years has regularly DJ’d across the globe alongside Phil Hartnoll form Orbital and Leeroy from the Prodigy, Happy Mondays, and many others.

Warriors of the Dystotheque grew from a love of lo-fi music and electronic culture between artists spread across Ireland France and New York. Style has no limit, these guys take in elements from 60’s garage, broken beat, jazz, downtempo, techno, electronica, noise, psyche, breakbeat and pretty much anything that opposes the mainstream beige cliches of modern music.

WotD are composed of DJ / Producer / Engineers/ Musicians Jonny Mac, Derry / Ireland  Sean Graham, Coventry / UK & Toulon / France  & The Brothers Nylon Mike and Nick Rufolo NYC / USA and have never spent time in the same country let alone the same studio when working on their music yet have released four EP's over the past two years all of which have had major support across BBC Radio on 6 Music with many plays on the following shows,Nemone's Electric Ladyland, Lauren Laverne, Huey Morgan & Shaun Keaveny more support has come on BBC Radio 1 from Phil Taggart on several occasions also back in N.Ireland from Across The Line & Derry's Stephen McCauley on his Electric Mainline show, Not forgetting Dan Hegarty on RTE 2 and many many more.

So our next guest mix comes from Warriors Of The Dystotheque!

Been loving their Excursions radio show on Cowbell Radio for a while now so its great to have a mix from them!!

A little bit about them:

Warriors of the Dystotheque is the brain child of Jonny Mac from Ireland, who as last 20 years DJ’d across the globe alongside Phil Hartnoll form Orbital and Leeroy from the Prodigy for several of those years, He also survived 2 tours with Shaun Ryder & Bez from The Happy Mondays,

Numerous festival appearances at V Festival after winning the XFM DJ competition in 2000 and many others across the world, not to mention several residencies in Ibiza playing Sunset & then after dark laying down Nu School Breaks as well as promoting several club nights and warehouse parties across Coventry, Leicester and The Sanctuary in Birmingham with all the top Breaks, Techno, Turntabilist’s & D&B DJ’s for the best part of a decade before relocating back home to Ireland and shelving Jonny Mac and DJ’ing in 2011. 

After taking time out for a few years he started his new project Warriors of the Dystotheque in 2015 and they’ve had major support across BBC 6 Music, BBC R1, RTE 2, BBC Foyle, BBC Ulster & even KEXP in the USA getting in on the act, 7 EP’s and an album later with remixes from Justin Robertson, Richard March (BRA) Tronik Youth and many others, collaborations & remixes for Graham Crabb (Pop Will Eat Itself), James Atkin (EMF) & more they are again about to make some noise with the new EP Thou Shalt Not Follow which comes with a rather tasty Acid remix from Tici Taci’s Duncan Gray.

The EP is a direct response to the Idea that Brexit, the Tories & Trump being in Power is a good idea.

With WotD being a unique set up this is something thats had a major impact on the band members as they are made up of Mike & Nick in New York (USA), Sean who spends his time between Coventry (UK) & Toulon (France) & Jonny in Derry on the Irish border. 

With several DJ festival appearances over the last few years and a tour of Thailand last April he’s getting back into the DJ scene and taking WotD onto the dance floors and has easily picked up where he left it in 2011. 

Thou Shalt Not Follow is released on the 20th March across the usual platforms with Bandcamp being live for pre orders from now.

Warriors of the Dystotheque - MTC Radio Mix

Kocleo's journey began very early on in his life. When he was just 13 years of age, he was already messing around with turntables and mixers, learning the tricks and trade of DJing from his brother. Kocleo took part in a DJ contest and was awarded the 'Best DJ' in the Nottalba competition promoted by Francesco Zappalà, considered by many an Italian Legend and the first Italian to have been awarded (Runner-up) in the DMC ‘Battle for World Supremacy’ in 1990.

A couple of years later, Kocleo decided to move to Rome from his little town in the south of Italy in order to explore his passion for music production and sound design. Fast forward to 2016 and he has since emerged as one of the few most exciting talents to come out of Italy, releasing non-linear house and techno cuts on labels such as Sasha’s LNOE,  Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Morris Audio, Culprit, New York’s Nervous Records, Definitive Recordings, Integrity Records to name just a few.
 
He has received regular support from DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Groove Armada, Pete Tong, Âme, DJ T., Joris Voorn, Danny Tenaglia, Vince Watson, James Zabiela, Alex Niggemann, The Magician, and many others.

His recent EP “San Lorenzo” is out on Tensnake’s label True Romance. He is also a solid performer with high familiarity in playing with vinyl records and using analog and digital gear: his live and DJ sets are a mix of electronic, house, and techno.

Music and Mau Maioli, something that was already predestined, from piano lessons in his childhood to the beginning of his music career in 2011. With only three years on the road, he had already achieved his first DJ residencies; later on, he founded Beat On Me alongside Cris D., the artist who taught him how to play. The energy emanating from the dance floors consumed him completely, but when he saw his studio work getting prominence, his happiness overflowed. Today he has releases on Prisma Techno, Warung Recordings, Young Society Records, and Prototype, with the latter he had the honour of having a remix by Renato Cohen. For Mau Maioli, the world is like a blank canvas begging for art, and he has been colouring it orange, a colour that represents joy, innovation, and vitality.

The Warriors are  forged from an alliance of transatlantic low-fi fanatics and leftfield DJ / Producers. Projecting an amalgamation of Chemical Beats, broken beat, jazz, downtempo, house, techno, electronica, noise and psyche, their unusual sound, whether laid back, or dance floor oriented, could quite easily come from a dystopic future where truly bad taste is outlawed.
