After appearing on Acid Test’s 10 Year Anniversary compilation Patricia, aka Max Ravitz, debuts an EP on the label with Less Than 7, a collection of tracks that sits squarely in the club-focused end of the label’s output. Ravitz grew up in Chicago and has family roots in Detroit; these cities cultivated his affinity for mid-western dance music, with early Trax Records being a standout favorite. Years later, while living in New York, collaborator Alexis Georgopoulos introduced Ravitz to Tin Man’s Neo Neo Acid LP (released on Acid Test in 2012). This album struck a particular chord, impacting his creative vision for the Patricia project and setting him on the path towards a fruitful collaboration with Tin Man as Ociya (also released on Acid Test). 

After 2021's IDM-leaning Blue Ridge LP, the Less Than 7 EP marks Patricia's return to the dance floor. Here, Ravitz explores four dimensions of acid music, each track deploying that classic squelch to differing effect. Both tracks on the A side pack a gut punch. The almost industrial beat on ‘At A. Gallop’ stomps along under moody pads and dripping acid lines until, midway, new harmonies reveal fresh vistas. ‘Head Gap Width’ is the EP’s most direct statement, a bolt of dubby techno energy with gurgling acid bass and rhythmic Detroit stabs. The B side then shifts things to a more emotive plane. ‘Winding To The Side’ uses its 9 minutes to fully explore the harmonic interplay between its buoyant braindance acid lines, which are engineered to suspend the late morning dance floor in time. ‘Coffee Computer’ closes things out, with its detuned pads, walking acid bassline and child-like piano lending it a wistful air that falls between house and IDM. 

Less Than 7 was recorded at Ravitz’s home studio in Asheville, NC, and mastered by close friend Josh Bonati.

Bringing in the milestone number ten for X-Kalay we’ll be kicking off a series of Various Artist EPs. Big shout to all those involved for being so patient ;) 

On the A side Zurich based Douala lights it up with a perfectly crafted dubbed out jam; awash with tape delays and spacey reverbs 'Mysteries of Life' is an excellently understated piece of work. Next up Chilean Mucho Sueno utilisies some big drum workouts and tense atmospherics to turn in a tough 4x4 house track. Baked in the concrete streets of Santiago, the rough percussive interplay and strong bass grooves of 'Yungelita' are quickly becoming a signature of this promising South American producer. 

On the flip it's an all Australian affair with E.Davd contributing a deliciously lazy, boogied out electro  number full of iced out pad work and a truly hypnotic groove. One for the lounge and the red lights... Finally, fellow Australian Escape Artist closes things off with a massive stripped back cut aimed squarely at the floor; the jagged electro bass and moody pad work of Archipelago upping the ante perfectly... Big one!

For quite a while now we are supporting Bas van Vuurde a.k.a. Colophon to the fullest. The Harlem based producer is a regular in our store and after some proper vinyl digging we told him that he could always send over some demos. Couple of weeks later we got an email and we enjoyed it so much that we had to release it. We asked VC-118A / Mohlao, who also put out music on labels such as Radio Matrix, Lunar Disco and Tabernacle Records, for a remix.

Colophon has it’s own label called Lowercase Life, beautiful hand printed sleeves with stunning music and remixes by Florian Kupfer and Orson Wells, produces nighttime tracks for the floor with a deep but spacious melancholic feel. The Heritage EP is a hommage to analog machine soul techno, as he calls it himself. Deeptrax is presenting future sounds in fresh modern cuts with a stunning electro-ish remix by VC-118A.

Limited to 250 copies on black vinyl and 50 copies on marbled white vinyl store only at Deeptrax Records.

Not a man of many words, this bloke from Canada who let the music do the talking. The mysterious producer Rich P & Lee will release his first EP on Deeptrax Records. This guy was on our heels for quite some time and we liked his groovy fresh cuts so much that we had to do multiple releases of the man. Shimmering super fresh club tracks on a strong 4 track EP with a deep Detroit house kinda flow combined with heavy tensed jazzy chords and flavored rhythms. Deep addicted moody drowning house and sci-fi 313 tracks of the highest order. You have been warned!

Mastered by Ballyhoo Records and pressed by Deepgrooves vinyl pressing plant. This release is limited to 300 copies with full colour artwork and a great sounding black vinyl release.
