Why hello!!  I'm decompressed and back in the city after Burning Man and happy to share my set from Bubbles & Bass, the best after hours camp on the playa.  This one's extra special to me as my set was only supposed to be an hour (11-noon), closing the party, however people were enjoying it so much, they stayed open and I played for nearly 2 hours longer than scheduled.  This mix represents the softer side of david hohme, comprised of my current favorite mellowed-out and melodic deep house tracks.  I like to call the style dream house.  Enjoy ;)

Let us paint you a picture of our Sunday night at Camp Y2K during Burning Man 2023, where Jeremiah Red and Madison Orange took the audience on a musical odyssey that defies the odds.

As we embarked on our journey to the set, mud underfoot and determination in our hearts, we faced the unexpected challenges that Burning Man often delivers.

It was as if the very elements conspired to test our commitment to the music.

The path to the set became a metaphorical pilgrimage, a testament to the resilience of Burners and their unwavering devotion to the sounds that unite us all.

As we revisit that unforgettable Sunday night, remember that sometimes, the journey to the music is as extraordinary as the music itself.

This set goes right back to my earliest musical influences. From my Chilean mother who loves all the Latin beats (such as Sergio Mendes) and her best friend, an amazing black woman who loved R&B, jazz, blues and disco. This set just makes me think of being in my Mom's best friend house and her dancing around in her amazing kaftan's smelling like shea butter and saying "come my sweet Annie, let's dance!"

Diving head first into the fun, “Do Your Thing” begins on a percussive high with snaps, claps, and snares to fuel the energetic notion. With a familiar vocal pitched down to perfection, “Do Your Thing” is sure to bring everyone to the dance floor. On the remix tip, Victor Vega starts us off with chilled stabs that coax you throughout as a shuffled snares continue to move you forward. RJ Pickens provides a dark melodic vibe to his remodel, dolling out airy strings overtop punchy kicks and hi-hats. Chicago’s own Twitchin Skratch brings a progressive feel to the techy original, incorporating smooth synth pads and a growling bassline and ending with a searing siren that cries from the dark shadows of this remix.

From top lines to low basslines, Deep Tribe have pummeled through each month of 2015 with brilliantly crafted EPs and singles. Kicking off the second half of the year, the boys are back on their mission to leave the dance floor in a devastating form as they prepare to release their next single “Inside Your Love,” which will start mending broken hearts on Wulfpack this November 17th.

Basking in a sonic soliloquy, “Inside You Love” is a track that will take you on an interstellar journey. Starting in a wispy, Milky Way of reverb, “Inside Your Love” leads-in with a percussion ensemble of claps-on-snaps over a steady kick drum and oscillating toms. Romantic pianos join the summation of sounds, each note twinkling like a chorus of stars. Fully embracing a mien of tranquility, down-pitched vocals timidly tunnel through the galactic dreamscape. The highlight of the track, though, comes towards the latter end of the breakdown. With the vocals suspended in air, jungle-inspired snares fade-in and boil over to a frantic, glitchy sequence, perfectly timed within its cataclysmic structure.

Simultaneously creating a warm wash of sounds with a cool, aired demeanor, “Inside Your Love” signals the call for a spaced-out, relaxing time.

“Teenee” is the brainchild of Shortcircuit who hails from Saskatchewan, Canada. Don’t let the name fool you, this track is anything but small! Included in the EP are 3 tracks: Shortcircuit’s original mix, an intense juke-y remix from JonBob, and Deep Tribe’s 4 on the floor take. Always on a quest to continually release new and fresh sounds, this time Deep Tribe came out with a funky remix of some super original vibes from Canada.

"Teenee" is a danceable tune with haunting minor chords that create a thick pad-like melody as the relentless kick drum beckons you to the dance floor. The funked out, acid like bass line then begins it’s assault, right in time with the layered percussive groove. The track continually builds up and then drops off into nothingness, leaving you in suspense, just waiting for your feet to touch the ground again. With each drop the track grows in complexity; jolted pumping rhythms, chopped up vocals, and dark growling synths, work together to build a potent new groove.

Spending the first 18 years of his life in Eastern Europe and shaped by 16 years in Chicago’s iconic house scene, Deep Tribe’s sound is a bold fusion of global vibes and deep, infectious house beats.
