Mobis Hommage an die blaue Stunde - Tiefgang mit Release N°10 oben*unten

Das Label Tiefgang hat sich seit seiner Gründung vor sechs Jahren mit aussergewöhnlichen Aktivitäten in Off-Spaces und Klubs seinen festen Platz in der Berner Kulturszene erarbeitet.

Matthias Gähwiler alias Mobi ist als Label-Mitbegründer für Release N°10 auf Tiefgang verantwortlich. Das Release hat er seiner Liebe zur blauen Stunde und deren melancholisch-träumerischen Atmosphäre gewidmet. oben*unten - zwei warme Tracks entstanden in bitterkalten Winternächten.

Charakteristisch für Mobi sind die beiden Tracks oben und unten aufgrund ihrer organisch und deepen Färbung. Während oben die gradlinige Klubnummer markiert, kommt mit unten die sphärische Seite des Produzenten zum Vorschein.

Am 15. April feiert Tiefgang das Release im Klub Kapitel in Bern.

The Berne based label Tiefgang established itself in its 6 years of existence through unique off-space events as well as rowdy club nights.

Responsible for the upcoming release N°10 is the label-cofounder Matthias Gähwiler aka Mobi. oben*unten is a dedication to the blue hour - the time before dawn - and it’s dreamy and melancholic atmosphere.

Both tracks are characteristic for Mobis style of production, because of their deep but still organic texture. oben is a straight forward clubtrack, while unten shows the spherical side of the producer.

Tiefgang throws a Sunday-dance April 15th at Klub Kabitel Bern as a releaseparty.

PREMIERE: Lui + L'autre - Macrorave (Mobi Alternative Mix)

The music-savvy Bernese Dave Hard delivers a musically focused piece of work on Sirion Records with his EP Palilula. The lightness of a past summer can be felt here as well as the certain melancholy of an approaching autumn. The three tracks were also reinterpreted and remixed by Dole & Kom, Markus Homm, Mobi, Balance and the Sirionaut Bird.The trance-infused house track "Palilula" creates a bittersweet yet hands-up high atmosphere through pads, chords and bars.Markus Homm created an airy light remix one could listen to in an endless loop.Dole & Kom use skillful melody changes, suspense arches and an additional Acid-inspired synth line for their interpretation. Goose bumps on the dancefloor are guaranteed."Mallet Dreams" announcing fall with filigree mallets, chords and pads. Yet with a certain drive he still feeds on the energy of summer. You'll want to listen to this one wrapped in a warm blanket, watching the foggy sunrise at the after hour of an open air at the lake.The Balance Remix a bit of a quieter, dubbier version. The downtempo affine number shines with a warm bassline and slightly reduced mallets.Pads which on the one hand contain a choral dress and on the other hand a rhythmic note harmonize perfectly with a static kickdrum and warm subbass in "The Soul". A nice rounding off of the whole EP.Mobi reinterprets the track completely and puts on a gloomy almost dystopian atmosphere, which shines through a rougher bassline.Sirion's Bird reduces the original track to its trance-like aspect, adds more drive and rhythm, and voil it's complete.

We’ve been doing this for a couple years now. When it all started, we pulled our greatest inspirations from the classic singer-songwriter tradition of the sixties. But it’s not the sixties anymore. 
It didn’t take long for us to incorporate violent punk guitars and quite by coincidence find out about synths as well. 
In 2012 we recorded our first songs with Admiral James T. from Winterthur, Switzerland. An irish friend referred us to Ruairi O’Flagherty, who at the time was settling into a leading mastering studio in Los Angeles. It all worked out and soon after we played our first sold-out show at the Gonzo Club, Zurich. 
A german independent label hat taken notice and distributed our EP worldwide, connected us across the Swiss borders and with the help from new Greek friends, we played a couple shows in Athens and Thessaloniki in the fall of 2013. 
Back home we we’re kindly mentioned by the influential radio show SOUNDS! of SRF3 and got some rotations in others channels as well. We played at La Catrina, Dachstock, Bad Bonn, Komplex Klub, Schüür, Exil Club and we’re booked as support for London Grammar on their first visit to Switzerland. 
We got 99 problems, but lack of material has never been one of them. 
So by means of crowdfunding and the support of private foundations we gathered some funds, returned to Admiral James T. who we feel really comfortable with and recorded our debut long player RÉELLE, once again mastered by Ruairi at Whisper&Shout, Los Angeles. 
It was published in september of 2014 on beautiful double-vinyl, distributed by Irascible in Switzerland. The release show held place at the Zukunft Club, the leading venue for techno and house in Zurich. Perfect for our comprehension of shattering genre-borders. We have had collaborations with several Djs, getting remixes of our stuff to places, where distorted guitars normally wouldn’t be appreciated. 
By now we had combined classic guitars with hard distortions, clear drums that are influenced by contemporary electronic music with a stand-up bass, synths lingering all around. 
In the meantime, as two of us have become fathers, we are permanently working and reworking our songs and then there’s all that material we haven’t even touched yet. Growing allthewhile more confident in the strength that can come out of quiter, calmer, overall more composed tunes.
In the process of getting ready for small, intimate unplugged shows - which, with us, still involves insane amounts of electricity - we discovered an entirely new perspective on our songs. 
We’re really excited right now, getting ready for the first shows of the year in late spring.
