DeFacto Records began in July, 2013.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, the label is the brainchild of Lee Jones, a British songwriter & producer who moved to Oz in 2012.
In the UK & Europe Lee has released records on Atlantic, Sunday Best, Modular, Grand Central, Get Physical & more.
In the studio Lee has worked across broad genres from Pop to New-Wave to Electro with some of the best producers around, such as Roger Bechirian (Elvis Costello/Nick Lowe) Freeform Five (Ladyhawke/Little Boots) Ewan Pearson (Jagwar Ma/M82) and many more.
Lee currently plays in Melbourne New-Wave-Pop group The Solicitors, who signed off their debut EP 'Made To Measure' with Melbourne's own Popboomerang Records.
Inspired by Scott from Popboomerang Lee decided to set up DeFacto, at first as a launchpad for The Solicitors new single, but with a view to releasing records by bands he loves, as he found that there is a wealth of incredible unsigned music in Melbourne alone.

We're also in the process of negotiating a monthly clubnight/showcase where we will handpick 3 bands or acts to perform before the label, from the submissions we have recieved. More details on that real soon!

NOTE: DeFacto Records are pretty much genre non-specific, we like all things that are good. But bear in mind our forte is in the indie-rock-electro-pop kinda vein.
