Default Position welcomes Ukrainian-born DJ producer Andrey Sirotkin to the label - with his debut deep techno EP, 'Dusk'. 

As a seasoned music maker Sirotkin brings a wealth of experience, having produced several genres - from deep house and dub techno to drum and bass and dubstep under his alias I Wannabe.  

Sirotkin's latest four-track EP transports the listener into a spooky dark underworld, with its moody, acid-esque basslines, haunting pads, and mesmerising percussive melodies. 'In Ukraine, we have this trend of hard banging music', says Sirotkin. 'Some people have difficulty appreciating deeper grooves' So with 'Dusk' it was about making something that could be experienced in more spiritual ways. It's for people who are maybe not into the hard dance experience but still love electronic music.

Dusk releases on September 12, 2022. All proceeds will be donated to Red Cross Ukraine.

Giacomo Pellegrino: 
DJ, Producer and Remixer. Owner of Detroit Side Underground Vinyl-Only Records Label. Giacomo Pellegrino is part of that particular category of people that really knows very well the meaning of the word passion. He started djing when he was only fourteen. Son of a musician, following his father around to every concert, visiting the most important clubs and venues of Sicily. Thanks to that experience, he developed a true passion for music and clubbing and, later, for djing. Despite still being too young to perform at night as a DJ, Giacomo started to arrange a few shows for friends, playing sets focused on dance music from the 70’s and the 80’s, his first musical love. A few years later, his style became a “monolith” of dance and funk, house and tech. Giacomo has his hand in every aspect of the music scene.

He also founded his own record label called Detroit Side, which is dedicated to the very passionate vinyl and DJ community. A label that promotes quality over quantity in the house and techno segment.

Linus & Amy’s debut album was written from the viewpoint of a girl dealing with lost love. It is the experience of self doubt and insecurities that result from heartbreak that inspired the album. “These feelings rise to the surface and can leave one teetering on the edge of the black below.” The album ranges from downbeat melancholic ballads to hypnotic techno grooves, and has been described as “underground electronic pop in the vein of Massive Attack.” Respected Producer, Ulrich Schnauss described the album as “a very engaging combination of gentle electronics and dancey grooves.”

“The Black Below Remix Album” features both established veterans of the dance music scene Howie B, Terry Francis, Alsion Marks, Alexi Delano and Russ Gabriel, as well as some of today’s best producers and DJs Mononoid, Joseph S. Joyce, Jem Stone, Mike Bryant, Tunnel and Ashwin Khosa. Having remixed everyone from U2 to Björk, Howie B brings his musical polymath to “Arsonist’s Daughter” turning the track into a deep acid house jam. As one of the founding father’s of London’s Fabric, Terry Francis is a mainstay of the House Music scene. His remix combines two of Linus and Amy’s signature tracks using parts of “Our Secret Tunnel” and “Follow Me Down”. The combination of syncopated rhythms and trippy vibes make his remix a delight for all Tech-House DJs.

LINUS & AMY

Amy is an American musician who was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. She is a member of the group “The Controversy” and has contributed vocals to various projects, such as M83’s Grammy nominated album, “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.” She was also member of West Indian Girl from 2007-2010. Linus has been producing techno under his alter ego, “Slynus” for the last 20 years. He was a resident DJ for the infamous sound system, ‘Sancho Panza’ from 1995 – 2002. He co-owned the record shop ‘Vinyl Addiction’ in Camden which was part of London’s ﬁrst Record Shop/Bar/ Restaurant, ‘Bar Vinyl’. His music has been played and charted by many electronic artists, including Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Pete Tong, and Danny Tenaglia.

Another week, another mix. This time we welcome @moreonbaffa on the KbF Radio series.

Bringing a classic Techno & House formula focused on extended loops & dub sound's, A duo originally from Venezuela but actually based in Barcelona (SP). Founders of the vinyl imprint BUDARE.

In the current times very few artists have been able to make a revival and continue the epic sounds of the Dub/Techno rise in the underground scene of the 90’s. These two underrated wizards are actually doing it In the most flawless way possible. 

Gustavo Romano & Emidio Falconi are “Moreon & Baffa”, originally from Venezuela (South America). Relocated in Barcelona. Spain, both have been working with the underground techno scene in their home country since early 2000’s. Known for exposing a unique "avant-garde" music selection as vinyl Dj’s since more than sixteen years. 

Having almost 2 decades literally “under the ground” now they are making noise in the global scene, with no doubt there are many reasons for the upcoming rise of their acts.
