Letter to the Kid is a brutal, confessional mixtape from DEFAULT, a neurodivergent artist raised in the undercurrent of Grafton, NSW. This project is not a tale of triumph. It’s a chronicle of survival, relapse, and the looping war between wanting to heal and being hardwired to hurt.

Each track pulls back the mask: exploring trauma, addiction, suicide loss, self-harm, autism, ADHD, shutdowns, and the ache of being unreadable to the people who claim to care. But this isn’t a comeback story. It’s the sound of someone who keeps crashing and waking up inside the same broken system documenting every fault line like a black box recorder.

The mixtape’s title is a final gesture of grace a message in a bottle to the younger self he couldn't save, but refuses to abandon. It’s grief in rhythm. Pain in rhyme. A letter that never got sent… until now.
