There are few names as instantly recognisable, revered and respected in the world of dance music than Jamie Jones. Renowned DJ and producer, Hot Creations label boss and founder of global event brand Paradise, his influence is felt across the scene as a tastemaker and innovator. Releasing ‘Rushing’, his joint label debut with Darius Syrossian on Defected in the summer of 2019, he now returns to the imprint for another dancefloor heater set to be one of the summer’s must-know tracks ‘My Paradise’. Bearing the same name as Jamie’s party, synonymous with warm Ibiza nights and world class selection, Jamie explores disco influences with an earworm vocal and elegant keys, while his signature high-energy bassline and groove give this release boundless dancefloor appeal.

Hard to believe that this record is now 10 years old.
 
The original is a great deep, house record that was featured on Nick’s ‘Between The Lines’ album on the brilliant Cécille Records. Then the one and only Dennis Ferrer got his hands on it and injected a whole heap of love and energy into it, creating a club anthem.
 
This one still sounds huge in a club whenever it gets dropped today.

The now Defected staple earned over a thousand spins across UK radio alone, culminating in a live PA with Poppy at Defected’s Ushuaïa Ibiza residency. Defected heavyweight Low Steppa returns alongside rising house name Capri with ‘Got The Funk’. No stranger to the London label, the DJ and producer from Brum has been a firm favourite at Defected shows worldwide for many years, from its flagship festivals to major club nights alike. His releases across the Defected family of labels have also seen major club play, from ‘This Is The Sound’ on DFTD to ‘Bullerengue’ with Crusy on Defected. For his latest label outing, Low Steppa collaborates with Capri, an artist whose tracks have been supported by Mark Knight, Sam Divine, Darius Syrossian and Dombresky, with more releases on tastemaker labels scheduled for 2025. A certified Defected classic, ‘Bad Habit’ by ATFC featuring Lisa Millett is remixed by Clüb De Combat. Originally released in 2000, ‘Bad Habit’ quickly became one of the label’s signature tracks, leading to a slew of re-releases and remixes - most notably from Armin Van Buuren in the same year. Joining the impressive list of remixers is a duo marked as ones to watch for 2025; Clüb De Combat’s warehouse-filling sound has earned them a slew of supporters, including industry titans like Solomun, Peggy Gou, Chloe Caillet, Chris Lake and Mau P. His work with frequent collaborator Serve Cold began with his third EP, Seasons, with the tracks channelling both artists’ melancholic and melodic sides. A powerhouse collaboration arrives on Defected as BLOND:ISH, Moby and Kiko Franco come together for ‘Natural Blues’. A bona fide talent with many strings to her bow, BLOND:ISH has emerged as one of this generation’s most acclaimed electronic artists. From launching the non-profit environmental organisation Bye Bye Plastic and her own label ABRACADABRA, to playing the biggest stages around the world like Coachella, Tomorrowland and Pacha Ibiza’s first ever female residency in 2025, there is nothing BLOND:ISH can’t do. CamelPhat and Elderbrook’s modern Defected classic ‘Cola’ is remixed by powerhouse Ukrainian duo ARTBAT. Early support from the likes of Solomun initially led to ARTBAT being recognised as ‘Artist of the Year’ by The DJ Awards and Mixmag’s ‘Stars of the Year’ in 2019, and since then the producer duo have become certified giants of the scene. From recent originals with Vintage Culture, Benny Benassi and Armand van Buuren, to remixes for artists like Empire Of The Sun, The Chemical Brothers and MEDUZA, ARTBAT’s arena filling house and techno rollers have made them one of Ukraine’s most notable electronic artists of the decade. The pair now take on the definitive Defected staple from 2017, CamelPhat and Elderbrook’s ‘Cola’. Teramo native Ben Kim returns to Defected with a remix of the London label favourite, ‘Freak Like Me’ by Lee Walker vs. DJ Deeon. Since his Beatport chart-topping rework of Jefferson Airplane’s ‘Somebody To Love’ in 2021, Ben Kim has become one of the tech-house scene’s most promising artists, with releases across tastemaker imprints Nervous, Kaluki and Club Sweat. Ben Kim now returns to the London label with a remix of the Defected classic ‘Freak Like Me’; the 2016 release began as an edit by UK producer Lee Walker, who reworked DJ Deeon’s Dance Mania OG from the 90s. Lee’s version gave the raw vocal a deep, rolling groove, stripping it down to turn it into a major dancefloor weapon which received remixes and major support from artists like Jamie Jones and Carl Cox. Already supported by the likes of Marco Carola, Michael Bibi and The Martinez Brothers, Ben Kim adds his flair to ‘Freak Like Me’ with a remix that arrives just in time for the summer festival season - its deep, alluring sound promising to fill dancefloors for years to come.

Defected unites five international artists on one major summer record as HUGEL, Niconé & Sascha Braemer, Tony Romera and Mydoz present ‘Caje’. No stranger to the Defected family, HUGEL’s previous label outings show the full scope of his international sound, inspired by Latin house, Afro house and his fiery home of Ibiza. Now he returns alongside Niconé & Sascha Braemer to rework their summer house cut, ‘Caje’. Appearing on their 2011 LP Romantic Thrills, the original ‘Caje’ is an understated record box essential; HUGEL takes the Balearic favourite and, with the help of well-established French producer Tony Romera and rising talent Mydoz, ups the ante considerably to create a soon-to-be Ibiza mainstay.

The good friends and frequent collaborators Grigoré and Serve Cold are on a roll with the London label in 2025; their smash hit ‘Dancing’ with Jaguar Jaguar made waves in June, topping the Beatport Afro House chart, appearing on Defected’s coveted In The House Ibiza 2025 compilation and reaching four million streams in under two months. The artists then released ‘LOW’ (Love is the Only Way) at the end August, quickly followed by this hard-hitting take on ‘Edge Of Desire’. Lee Walker vs. DJ Deeon feat. Katy B’s ‘Freak Like Me’ is without question the house record of 2016. Lee Walker’s remix of DJ Deeon’s rare classic first made its national radio debut via an Annie Mac ‘Hottest Record’, with Pete Tong making it his Essential New Tune the same night; further radio support quickly followed from Danny Howard (Future Anthem), MistaJam (Jam Hot), Kiss Fresh, and more. Within weeks the track had hit No.1 on Beatport, topped tastemaker charts (Buzz), and went Top 15 on Shazam’s Future Hits. 

Now featuring a new vocal from UK dance queen Katy B atop the track’s distinctive bassline,  ‘Freak Like Me’ is a surefire contender for one of this summer’s biggest anthems. On air and on sale from 17th June, with an impact date of 19th August, this single is a joint release between Defected Records and Ministry of Sound – a partnership that previously took Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ to No.1 in the UK singles chart in 2013.

‘Freak Like Me’ first set the dance music world alight after being played by Marco Carola at the Music On Ibiza 2015 closing party, a now seminal moment which went viral via YouTube. The cross genre appeal of the track has attracted heavy support from a range of DJs, including Disclosure, Dixon, The Martinez Bros, Loco Dice, and many more. And - alongside the recent remix from Armand Van Helden – it’s dominated the first waves of this year’s Ibiza parties and summer festivals.

In April, Katy B released her album, ‘Honey’, her third album and the follow-up to ‘Little Red’. Late last year she hit No.1 in the UK with Ministry of Sound alongside Tinie Tempah and KDA with her flawless vocal performance on ‘Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)’. She recently released singles with Craig David and Major Lazer (‘Who Am I?’), and Four Tet and Floating Points (‘Calm Down’).

Young British producer Lee Walker burst onto the scene in a way only possible in the digital age, transformed overnight from a bedroom producer into a breakthrough star thanks to his edit of ‘Freak Like Me’, but there's more to Walker than just one record. He’s released a slew of tracks for respected labels including Wiggle, No Idea's Original and Circus Recordings. 2016 gig highlights include Sankeys in Manchester, Ibiza and at Studio 338 in London, and The Zoo Project. He’ll appear at Radio 1 in Ibiza on 5th August.

During the 1990’s the now legendary DJ Deeon released 30 singles in four years for cult imprint Dance Mania, since then he’s continued to build upon his classic recordings with tracks through his own label, Freakmode, and DJ sets that carry on the raw spirit of ghetto house. Recent UK shows include Bloc and XOYO.
