Ki Creighton & Makanan's “Drop Out” EP on Underground Audio delivers masterful talent, containing excerpts from the generations of house, layered over bass movements and kicks worthy of the heavyweight stature. 

This first of this four track EP, “Drop Out” sets the pace for the release. Laced with a vibrant bass and a delicious groove throughout, this track showcases elements of acid, classic vocal samples, and sinister synths alongside. Produced to perfection, this track is best suited to raise the energy in a set. 

“Pusher”, the second track of the EP brings through a very hypnotic appeal within the track. An underlying industrial groove is complimented by pulsating bass rhythms throughout, with lively percussive sections driving the track forward. Catchy vocal sections placed throughout the track deliver the finishing touches. 

Both tracks are complimented within the EP through excellent remixes of each track. Miguel Lobo and Andrea Butano take “Drop Out” on a more percussive and exotic route, opening the track up for various applications ranging from the poolside to the early hours of the morning. Horatio incorporates “Pusher” with a heavier yet precise bassline, with distinct energy flowing throughout the track that is suited for larger stages.

Croatian duo PEZNT, aka Blacksoul and Mark De Line, make their debut on DFTD with their sunshiny ‘Down Under EP’ after the production duo appeared on the Defected Croatia 2017 compilation with their bongo-heavy ‘Burek’. Making a very strong start, lead track ‘Toxic Love’ received the Most Rated stamp of approval on the Defected Radio Show long before release. Pan-Pot’s busy touring schedule over the Summer no doubt inspired their upcoming 12” ‘Captain My Captain’. Having performed for countless festivals and main-stage crowds, their new tracks put forth glacial soundscapes so epic they could sink the Titanic.

If it's possible to say this, title track 'Captain My Captain' is actually the more restrained and studied of the three - featuring vocals written and recorded by Los Angeles based studio vocalist and label freund Cari Golden, who also wrote and performed the vocals on Anja Schneider's recent release for the Hi Five! mobilee compilation 'Something Left'.
