Natascha Polké's "Burning Out" EP is the follow-up release to "Stars Wrapped In Skin". It ties in seamlessly, bringing back the haunting qualities, fragile textures and driving beats the artist is known for. Launching straight into the breakbeat percussion and uncompromising synth line, Defintion's remix of "Burning Out" enters the room like it's here to stay. The producer blends rough rawness with fragility, ties in thunder-like build-ups with intricate vocals and metallic synth stabs, harsh like blades. A remix that lives to be blasted in clubs and will easily demolish dance floors all over the world. This track is unrelenting, and you don't want it to stop.

The second remix stems from Night Talk. He's created a slow burner, a tune that keeps on building, where he skilfully controls the releases of energy, and places it exactly where and when it's needed. This remix is minimalistic and almost hypnotic in its darkside vibes.

Definition presents his own creations once again to Definition:music in the form of the stunning 4 track „Progession LP“. Living up to his reputation, the tracks are as engaging as they are addictive and always pushing the envelopes. 

Opening the show on a warm note; „Come Down feat Liu Bei“ delicately teases us as it blooms into a massive blend of smooth synths and titillating percussion. Midway through weíre treated to an elegantly coordinated break-beat, adding a special touch and unfolding a new dimension to the track. 

The title track is up now. Definition projects an electric landscape in which we ride through the night on a steel horse made of pure electricity toward the peak-time rush and unearth ëProgressioní. A solid track throughout, from the first deliberate kick, to the delicate break and beyond. 

„Janus“ brings thick and gritty bass stabs to a driving tech house groove, creating a blend of deep, dark realms with a hot and steamy pressure. Easing into warmer waters, 

2Caught Out“ is vocally supported or rather enriched through the voice of Peter Joseph. A smooth and cuddly but packing groove that pushes straight into your brain never to release you after listening to it for the first time. This track produces happiness, peace and a good dose of bliss my friends! 

„Without Any Doubt“ slowly rises from nothing and transforms itself into a beast of beautiful orchestra of chords and harps. 

Finally, one last vocal track to bring closure to the LP. „This Mystery feat. Jinadu“ is a power ballad that delivers on all fronts and spreads a warm glow with a solid groove.

The mastermind behind the label, Definition himself returns with a massive new solo release, Falling EP. With his last solo release nearly a year back, one look at the tracklist gives us an idea why; 5 new and exclusive works – quality takes time.

The title track opens the EP in a deep and melodic landscape burning low and steady. The vocal cuts bring an ethereal vibe as the synths crescendo and the kick beats on.

Next Dimitri shows us another side, ‘Tulipe Noir’ engages us in an electric fantasy full of swirling arpeggios cloaked in retro vibes. The collaboration with his friend Def:Play spends a tribute to an old Soul, which introduced them and kicked off the start for a beautiful friendship. A beautiful adventure right from the begin, thanks to a stunning arrangement and a knack for flow.

‘Emotions’ drops us in a world of deep heavy kicks with tense air between them. The pads rise. The reason for our journey is clear as the floor throbs with bass. But that’s not all, the waters get warmer, and the sun does shine, if only briefly.

Turning up the groove, ‘Gone’ melts the tension with a smooth groove and a solid drive. By the middle of the track, we’re caught with a contagious rhythm and natural swing.

The final track of the EP is perhaps its warmest – a beautiful break-beat adventure fantastically vocalized by Liu Bei. ‘Rise Again’ is that upbeat catchy summer tune you just can’t get enough of – done tastefully and elegantly. A beautiful and warm conclusion to an outstanding EP.

Long term relationships are a lovely thing and this is what we've got with Manuel Moreno! A regular contributor to the Hive Audio catalogue from early on the Swiss producer is now teaming with Natasha Waters for his newest musical outing – the „Ghost EP“. Presenting a deep, damp and slightly fever'ish musical vision for the very heat of the night the pairing creates a wonderful, ever rolling tune with the original version of „Ghost“, perfectly amalgamating stripped down TechHouse garnished with spatial FX and haunting sounds and Natasha Waters' captivating, highly seductive vocals - a combination meant to turn this outstanding track into a long lasting future classic immediately.
With Definition on remix duties for „Ghost“ we see a very careful and masterly crafted rework here, sticking close to the mysterious vibe of the original cut, adding a little more punch here and there plus introducing a new organic synth bassline and tense string layers as well as a new approach to the vocal arrangements this one is perfect for grooving late night sessions.

'Lux' is what we use to measure the intensity of light as we perceive it, when it's hitting or passing through a surface.The first track, that gives the EP its name, embodies exactly that — the fluctuating, ever-changing nature of light; from fragile and fleeting to overwhelming and powerful.

'Lux' kicks off with warm synths creeping in, like rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds. Dreamy crescendos take you for a ride and build up until they melt into a comforting blanket of piano chords, accompanied by a propelling hi-hat pattern that will make you want to move. The track is hopeful, the start of a journey, with compelling break downs, industrial rhythm elements and powerful build-ups such as the one to the final section, dominated entirely by its fusion between techno-beat and dance-feel.

Next up is 'Odyssee'. An unapologetic track that picks up the pace. Kicking off boldly with harmonic tension and enticing drum sounds, it’s hard not to surrender to the rich and fast-moving soundscape. Proud drums meet steel sounds and tentative piano figures, all glued together by the driving beat, determined to get to the next stop of this lifelong voyage. Striking accents, in the form of short-lived breaths or staccato bass lines take you through a labyrinth of growing gritty synths. A track that easily leads you through space and time and makes it feel like the most natural thing in the world.

We're greeted with standalone bright and sparkly synth movements as 'Phoenix' rises and wraps us in warmth. Gently, like raindrops, a rhythmic pattern starts dripping in. Definition, like in many of his other works, blends rhythmical sounds that couldn't be more different into one, making them sound like they were never meant to exist unless next to each other. The track is a symbiosis of modern and classical sounds, lets us bathe in analogue warmth but always rolls along with digital precision. 'Phoenix' starts softly and ends in roaring flames: in a repetitively enchanting party, fabricated out of dark, pumping beats and gritty synths.

'Raven', the final of the four tracks and the lead single (released alongside the Jonas Ratshman remix just 1 week ago), intrigues with chants and empowerment just as much as with its determination and fragility. Falling from the highest heights, Raven lets you rediscover who you are when you hit the ground. Carried by a throbbing four-onthe-floor kick drum and covered in a synth-haze that is hard to resist, you’ll float along, fall and rise with the everlasting wave-like movement of human existence.

When a label carries the same name as the artist behind it, you can already assume artistically synchronized expressionism. This is the case for Dimitri Schnider, alias Definition and his label of the same name. Definition himself has been busy composing electronic music since 2009, and standing behind the decks since ’07. However, it all started with a drum set - the rhythm of which flows unbridled in his veins.

Definition is calls himself neither producer nor label owner nor DJ. He is all in one. This three-in-one combination manifests itself undeniably in his music. He relies on harmony, a music that is round in itself and at the same time knows no boundaries. If you enjoy your music, you embark on a journey without limits – precisely which definition, as its name predicts, is defined for the listener.

This is not the only factor in making a name for himself over the years as DJ, Producer and Label Owner - in diverse clubs, well-known labels and top artists on his label. It is also due his special characteristic to - despite his success - stay firmly grounded. Unless he’s making music, then he really takes off.
