Defjax aka Jack Woodgate is a young, driven and hungry DJ who is working relentlessly to gain attention and recognition. 

Growing up in South London, Woodgate was inspired by local Dubstep producers Benga, Caspa and Rusko who have since taken over the UK Dubstep scene. Having been influenced by dubstep heavily, Woodgate incorporates mind-numbingly huge drops into his sets unlike any other. Also influenced by the likes of Wolfgang Gartner, Kim Fai, Avicii & Afrojack, Woodgate combines filthy electro with heavy dubstep bass lines, a combination that is guaranteed to tear crowds apart.

In 2008, Woodgate along with Sheffield-based producer and DJ, Alex Orbell (DPM), founded room 16 records as a platform to promote newly released tracks, events and other artists. In late 2010, Defjax’s soundcloud received over 2000 hits in less than a month with almost no promotion, a figure that established DJ’s might envy.

Currently residing in Lancaster, UK, Woodgate holds a Saturday night main-room residency at ‘The Sugarhouse’, a 1300 capacity venue that has seen the likes of Pendulum, Kissy Sell Out, Carl Cox and Chase & Status. Launched in December 2010, Woodgate’s remix of Akon’s ‘Against the Grain’ has received in excess of 1600 plays individually. After creating a facebook page, Woodgate to date has clocked up in excess of 14 thousand post views.

Aged just 20, Woodgate is keen to show venues up and down the country exactly what he can do; to mix mainstream tracks with filthy electro and dubstep hooks and offer something completely unique and fresh to the UK club scene. Watch this space.
