Things are clearer now for Meanjin (Brisbane) producer and Pocketmoth co-founder Itrat Memon, who in the 3 years since his last EP release, worked tirelessly to reconfigure his creative practice. A first glimpse came in May 2021 when he relinquished former alias ‘Black Mannequin’ in favour of the name Meanjin’s dance music community fondly knows him by: Iti.

This signalled an intention to break free from former personal narratives, and instead view releases as extensions of the transient self from irretrievable moments in time. In other words, a firm self-commitment to finish music while at its most visceral peak, for as time passes, so too does one’s emotional connection to its birthing point. Acknowledging this impermanence, the ‘Curvework’ series houses tracks conceived and finished within ephemeral moments of creativity.

Vol. 1: As Time Passes A fast-paced 2-track, 2-remix EP, suited to a variety of dance floor contexts. The EP begins with Saba (Urdu; wind, breeze): a swift, airy groover, fusing the percussive textures of Iti’s Pakistani heritage with soft, breathing pads and his signature vocal sampling. This is followed by the EP’s title track, ‘As Time Passes’; a high-energy, broken-beat number. Here, more of Iti’s hypnotic vocal chops weave cleverly with thundering rhythm and tabla sections.

The EP’s remixes come from two of Meanjin’s most exciting and active producers; Axon Growth Factor and Nora Drum.

Off the back of his stunning release ‘Cytokenisis’ on Naarm (Melbourne) label The Space Between Us, Axon Growth Factor continues his excellent form with a stripped-back electro remix of ‘Saba’, injecting the intricate drum programming he is rapidly becoming known for.

Nora Drum, having released an equally stunning EP in collaboration with Lithe in September, continues his exploration of Drum and Bass with an immense take on ‘As Time Passes’, featuring a clinical rhythm section and textural atmosphere. Hats off.

Her garden was an oasis, a place of calm and peace away from the world. She'd put all her time and effort into making it just so; a sanctuary that she could evolve and build over the years — add to, take away from. Flowers of all sizes and colours bordered the pathways and the secret corners she'd fashioned out of twigs and branches, while down at the bottom of the lawn a small stream trickled softly away into the distance. Nature would always be where she felt most at home, it was where she belonged.

After releasing two solo EPs on her Nehza Records label, Roni calls on the talents of several producers for her first ever compilation. Transnaturel, like the mission of her imprint as a whole, concerns itself with nature, more specifically the beauty of what's around us and the important role we all need to play in protecting and conserving the environment. Bringing together artists from all over the world, including Amor Satyr, Wanton Witch, NSDOS and Amaliah, the nine-track release, which spans breaks, bass, techno, rave and more, aims to reconnect us to our roots, 'stripping back distractions and ultimately clearing our vision to nurture a compassionate vibrational frequency.'

@Erbium-Records, a label based out of Birmingham, UK, prepares the 'Laika' EP from @4navr1n [An Avrin], featuring four original dancefloor tracks from the London-based producer and one remix by @NovaCheq.

The DJ and Producer, who also runs the Basilica imprint delivers a heavy three track EP, showcasing his versatile reflection of the contemporary club sound. „Exist Physically“ opens with a pressure building drum pattern, shooting kicks and spacious claps, promising complete shutdown, while „IATTOB“ continues with a percussive thriving, undermined by a dark, yet lively tension enriched by hypnotic vocal chops. „Off a Pill“ follows its forgone energy and dives even deeper into a rhythmic and gritty hybrid soundscape to perfectly round up this journey at the verge of raw, grime-infused UK Techno, guaranteed to turn every dance floor into an ecstatic experience. The full release is scheduled for 28th October and will be available on our Bandcamp only.

Were super hyped to start off the new year with a killer premiere, by non other than an artist stirring  up some real currents with their work.

Happy to be able to share the awesome track, 'Conditions of Weightlessness' by the fantastic Acidfinky, who is a Berlin-based DJ and producer, member of "THF Radio", co-founder of the feminist collective "BLVSH" and mind behind "Twisting Knobs Records".

"Weightlessness is a condition when your body is in free fall and the acceleration is downward at gravity. This condition can be defined by the term zero gravity. So weightlessness occurs when there is zero support of force on our body."
