Dear Listener,
This track is a retro based track with a very modern touch to it. The lyrics speak about no matter what or who we spiritualy believe in, that doesn't have to have a bearing on our relationship with others and their beliefs. 
It's my first track, and it's on a subject that is an important topic at the moment. Hopefully, as always music can resolve all the differences. Also, it belongs to my retrosynth themed album called "Long Night Drive".

This track started of with a simple synth arpeggio that I came up with while experimenting with one of my synthesizers. It kept on building up and within an hour "Long Night Drive" took birth. 
The mood and sound of the track echoes my love for Italian Disco and that slight techno feel of Giorgio Moroder tracks.
It's perfect track for a long night drive to nowhere!!

Enjoy this bonus track for August!!

Up and Away is my experiment at bringing together modern day EDM with a distinct retro disco sound. The song starts off as a modern day EDM track that we're used to, and then eventually after a crescendo, it breaks down into a retro sound. 

The my favourite part begins with the introduction of a beautiful disco synthesiser, that ushers in the the disco part of the track. A futuristic synth disco sound makes up this part of the track!!

Up and Away is also the third track from my debut album "Mon Trésor".

The Keys To Life is my homage track to all the beautiful and super important keyed instruments. Pianos, synthesisers, clavinet and keyboards play an important role in all forms and genres of music. 

It is a bright a peppy track that is layered in a way to pay homage to each instrument. The beats are layered too, and keep building up right to the end to add an interesting crescendo to the song!!

The Keys To Life

"Space Hound" is the 7th track from my album "Mon Trésor". It is dedicated to my "super loving, large hearted and caring" pet dog. She has changed me in so many ways and made me a better person in more than one way. Hence, I chose to release this special song on her birthday!!

The song follows the "cut-up sample" technique of Todd Edwards. The disco guitar riffs are given a futuristic touch with some effects and layering. The break takes the song into a more happy and rejuvenated part with the guitar more playful and the bassline more thicker. The beats are layered to give a more spacey feel!!

To all the "Amazing Dogs" out there- "WE LOVE YOU"

Space Hound

Renaître which means rebirth in French is an experimental track that explores rock music from the past and present. As this track is exploratory in nature and combines a lot of elements from various genres of rock and dance music, the video as well follows a space explorer's quest for new lands. The various crescendos and decrescendos signify the happiness and sadness one feels when they embark on an adventure. I believe that, both are essential for a satisfying journey.

The last minute and a half sees an increase in intensity that signifies that all the effort, self-belief, persistence and never-say-attitude is close to paying off. The explorer finally reaches his destination, the painter gets the perfect muse, the scientist makes a path changing discovery or the musician finds that elusive, never-before heard sound they were looking for.

Renaître

Voyageur" is the 4th track from my album- "Long Night Drive". It can be seen as a continuation of "Renaître". The first part of the track captures the adrenaline rush an astronaut has when they escape the Earth's atmosphere, and enter outer space. 

The second part of the track is an attempt to create the tension that the astronaut goes through, as he gets ready to embark on his mission, and also the sinking feeling, that they may not return to their home planet, ever again.

Voyageur

Retrouvailles is the 9th track from my album "Mon Trésor". As the word means a lengthy search for someone special whom you've lost, the track also has a searching kind of tune to it. Behind the upbeat tempo and guitar riff, a contemplative and melancholic vibe can be felt. 

With the introduction of the Synthesizer Arpeggio, that melancholy gives way to a more hopeful and positive vibe, where you feel the search is coming to fruition. 

The track is modelled in line with one my favourite "Daft Punk" tracks- Voyager.

Retrouvailles

Love Is In The Air" is the 10th track from my album Mon Trésor. The track is modelled on Daft Punk's "Too Long", and the bass line is also very close to what is used in that song. However, the song structure can be said to be close to their other track "Fresh", in terms of how the guitar solo is used. The way the beats are layered is however more reminiscent of "Too Long". 

The track is an emotionally charged, feel good and flirtatious in nature. It captures the kind of conversation you have with your wing man, before you approach a new person. It's a perfect song for upcoming Valentines Day.

Love Is In The Air

Faithful was one of my first productions that I had done. It was put aside, waiting to be recorded. Finally, when I was happy with the final mix, I decided to release it.

It is a very special track to me. Faithful has a very slow-tempo R&B vibe to it, and the production is done as to, show progress with the different sounds that enter at various times during the track. After the lyric bit of the track is over, a more modern approach is taken, with the sensual synthesiser entering that takes the song to the end.

The lyrics of the track talk of a faithful relationship, where someone promises to love the other person, and no one else. It doesn't have any back story behind it, I just penned the lyrics based on the feeling the production gave me.

"Human Sadness" is the 6th track from my album "Long Night Drive". It is an indie pop song that is based on the concept of a non-human being experiencing the feeling of sadness for the first time.

The production is upbeat with a tinge of sadness with the vocal samples. It is a track that was shelved for a long time, and I had written the lyrics for it too. However, after finishing the vocal recordings, I just couldn't help from myself sharing this track!!!

Hi-NRG is the debut track from my vintage house inspired album "I LOVE MY HOUSE". It started off with me discovering a bouncy and energetic bass sample that helped me build the track up. The sound and song structure is inspired by Daft Punk's "Musique". 

The production has quite a lot of layering and this 9 minute long club track has various parts that help build an energetic and solid crescendo!!

I Love My House

Hi-NRG

"Mon Trésor" is the title song from my album with the same name. It is a soulful R&B ballad which has a faint and filtered dancehall beat in the background. This makes this song very different from anything I've done before.

The song talks about the person/object you treasure the most in your like. The groove throughout the song is themed in line with this objective, and is driven by a "wavy synth pad", funky guitar and and a flute, which form three different parts of the song!

"Dreams Of You" is another one of the 3 songs that form the "Mon Trésor: Deluxe Album". 

It opens with a romantic piano tune which is joined by a sweeping pad and deep kick. The whole beats and groove is put together in a way to form a melodic fantasy theme. The idea of the song was based on someone day dreaming about their "love interest", and this in turn forms a different "fantasy world" for them, which transcends everything that is happening around them in the present moment.

The video of the song also focuses on this idea and forms a visual aid for this thematic vaporwave balad!

Dreams Of You

"Too Much To Ask" is the debut song from my upcoming album "Sweet Summer". It captures the emotional essence of asking your crush to dance with you.

The overall sound itself is moulded to bring the ambience of an "indie summer" and the and nervous innocence of asking "someone special" to dance with you.

The second part of the song introduces a "sweet tension" French Horn that encapsulates the tension in the air once you get the person on the dance floor.

Sweet Summer

Too Much To Ask?

"Super Hero" is a retro based "self talk anthem". The synthesizer emotes a feeling of determination and perseverance that is complimented by the "vintage sounding vocals". The lyrics talk about believing in one's own abilities and strengths, as this is the key to doing "heroic things" that one dreams of.

The structure is a beat crescendo that sees the beats layering up and then breaking down again.

Super Hero

"Drive" is the last song from my album "Long Night Drive". It is a tribute song to the movie of the same name that starred Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. 

The song opens with a piano and string section that evokes a feeling of farewell and moving on.

The dark electronic vibes capture the essence of this album and the movie too. It gives off a feeling of traveling somewhere in the night and making your way through the darkness to effectively find the light/reach your destination.

The synths are warm and evocative. The beat is a simple retro one that builds up in layers as the track proceeds and reaches it's crescendo.

Drive

"Knight Ryder" the first bonus track from my album "Long Night Drive- The Drives Continues".

It is complex 80's retro track that has a firm and bouncy bass line that is supported by airy synths. The tracks starts off with the bassy synth that fills your ears and is soon joined by a pulsing kick drum. The spacey snare adds an intensity that is added to by the serious pad that swarms in. This part signifies that start of a journey that always seems daunting and dark at the beginning.

The second part seems the addition of warmer synths that is meant to evoke a feeling a calm among along the madness around! The traveler now feels at home with the journey ahead and looks ahead with a calm confidence.

Knight Ryder is brought to an end with the bouncy synths that brought the track to life and eventually dies off with the pad that disappears into the distance!!

"Moon Walker" is the second bonus track from my album "Long Night Drive- The Drive Continues". The sound is inspired by the 80's retro music and the soundtracks from movies of that time.

It is my homage to this golden era of synth driven noir music that is fit for any night drive down an endless highway.

"Street Dancer" is the third bonus song from the album "Long Night Drive- The Drive Continues". 

It is quite similar in style and structure to "Moon Walker" but with brighter and more sharper synths that still embraces that night drive sensation.

After a brief breakdown the track progresses on to add a few more beats and elements that give a feeling of elation.

Street Dancer

"Close Call" is the fourth and final song from the album- "Long Night Drive- The Drive Continues" that consists of 4 bonus tracks!

It has a bright mood and some epic 80's synths that gives you the elation of driving at speed in the dark of night. Where you're at one with the the journey and not too worried about the final destination.

The retrospective part of the track focuses on the "close calls" you have with accidents/tragedies but you never let them phase you from focusing on enjoying the journey.

Dear Listener,
I use the name "Deft Soul", as it emphasizes my approach to producing music, and exploring new sounds. I believe that music has the power to stir the soul like nothing else can. Also, with the simplest sounds and harmonies one can convey elaborate and touching stories. In my opinion music doesn't need to be loud and abrasive, as even a skilfully created simple tune can move one emotionally. As an artist, I believe it's my responsibility to be creative and not follow, a set path!!

I am a huge follower of Daft Punk. I am also influenced by artists like- Justin Timberlake , Timbaland, Justice, Breakbot, Cassius.

The genres that I usually do produce in are Disco, House, Synthpop and Retro.
