This is the winning entry I created for the house-mixes.com spring competition.  It was an open genre competition but  we had to use at least 1 Frankie Knuckles track and 1 from an artist on the site. Thanks to all of the downloaders who helped me get past the first round of the competition and also to the voters who selected my set as the winner.  There are loads of talented DJs on this site, so I tried my best to come up with something unique and fun.   As always I used Ableton live to put this 27 minute set together.  I used parts of about  15 tracks along with 14 channels in live, my own synth, basslines, pecussion and effects to create a unique dance music experience.   Although Frankie knuckles is a tremendous musical talent and DJ i found it hard to use one of his tracks in my set but wound up using  parts of two along with parts of an interview he did a few years ago for the intro and outro.  I also used a great  melodic breakbeat track by FL Fagos, who is a very talented and unique producer/DJ that features his work on this site.  God Bless Frankie.  He was a pioneer and gave his life to the art of DJing before it was considered a cool or respectable profession.  Those hearing this for the first time, I hope you enjoy!

Dehydr8ed Ableton set that won House-Mixes.com 2014 Spring Competition

This is a rework of Billie Jean I created using Ableton Live. It is in my  part of an Ableton Live DJ set  set I made with Disco Frisco called Communic8 which is available here on Soundcloud.com and House-mixes.com.  I used Micheal Jackson Billie Jean, Gianluca Motta feat Molly Not Alone (Deadmau5 Remix) and some original synth, percussion and effects.

This is a set Ive been working on with Jason Randall for a while now. Its been getting loads of comments and great feedback on house-mixes.com so I figured I would put it up here sooner this time.   In this 2 hour set we used parts of 80 tracks and created over 40 original synth, bass and percussion samples in Ableton Live. If u have been into electronic music at all in the past 20 years u may recogize alot of sounds but guarantee u never heard it like this. Enjoy!


Dehydr8ed - Alchemy -  by Niko & Jason w/Ableton Live

Dehydr8ed represents a unique style of electronic music creation and manipulation.  Jason Randall and I (Niko Benetos) met in 2011 on House-mixes.com.  Since then we have become 2 of the most liked and commented DJs on the site by pushing the limits of music manipulation and mixing.  I have been using Ableton Live for 9 years now. I Strip down tracks to samples, then arrange them with parts of others and my own synth, basslines percussion and effects to create a unique dance music experience.  There are no limits as to what can be done.  Most of my sets use about 20 channels and could take 50 to 100 hours to complete.
Jason Randall is simply put the best DJ on the planet.  He is using upto 6 decks along with samplers and effects units and although he is the King of dark pounding techno he can throw down in any style and make the most seasoned of DJs seem amateur.
