"In The Mix" is our new venture which features sets recorded via our DJ Community Program, where we invite trans & NB artists to come into the office to practice on our DJ equipment and broadcast via our streaming platforms. As the second drop of the series, Andy Iwancio who has over 20 years of DJ experience and delivered an incredible performance on her last tour this February.

Andy is a deejay from Seattle, by way of Baltimore, who’s 20 year career has made her a staple of rave scenes on both coasts as well as helping found “mudpieluv” one of the longest running female-led crews in the country.

She has shared her love of bright, vocal-heavy, sometimes fast, dance music as a part of legendary queer dance crews “Blowpony” and “Butch Queen” too. For the last 10 years she has taught deejaying to youth, as well as trans/nb adults. This self-proclaimed “rave grandma” still finds time to tour as a comedian and deejay to this day.

Voluminous Arts is a community organization and record label bringing forward resources and opportunities from trans artists in NYC. This year, we started a fundraiser that will allow us to launch a Community Resource Hub with more resources for trans artists. This @DarkScienceElectro label highlight is for legendary Dutch record label @Clone-nl - There is legitimately nothing that I could even say about the label that hasn't already been said about this 31-year-old mainstay. They have released some of the most important music in Electro music and their represses have made timeless music available to new generations of music lovers. We are forever indebted to Serge for all his hard work since starting the label in 1991. There cannot be a history of Electro without covering the major contributions of this Dutch imprint. Clone's impact reaches beyond just Electro music into Dub, Techno, IDM, House, and more. For the purposes of this mix, you could guess that my target was the more Electro-centric cuts from the discography.

Justin Aulis Long is a sonic sorcerer, urban Homeric poet, and cosmic wanderer that exists within the liminal spaces where light meets dark. Long is the offspring of a gorgon, conceived within a brick and mortar labyrinth while surrounded by the supernatural electronic voices of angelic forces.

While engaging in themes of the uncanny and erotic, Long opens thresholds which lead to psychedelic realms during communal dance gatherings. Applications of sonic alchemy during ritual action generate vibrant forces created through collective effervescence, causing a bubbling over of ecstatic energy leading to rapture. During the rite, incantations are expressed through fusing a swarm of aural fragments composed from diverse temperaments by way of a personal and singular technique.Sacred objects (records), selector’s tools (turntables and mixer), body, spirit, harmonic and discordant voices unify and become one - The Soft Machine.

During a ritual performance, phonic collages are created intuitively on sight, sigils are aurally direct with specific intent, and offerings are bestowed before an alter, all charged by an engine of chaos. Time and space unravels while normality ruptures and disintegrates as foundational structures of the status quo are dismantled through intensive executions, founded in the practices surrounding musical selection.
