Servilia's aria to Vitellia.  Servilia believes that she is weeping because Sesto will die.  Vitellia at this time is torn by guilt. She tell Vitellia that her pity and tears are useless as they will not save Sesto.

If nothing but tears
you expand for him
then all your weeping
will be in vain

To this useless
compassion you feel,
oh how similar
is cruelty

In Roquemaure, 1843, the church organ was recently renovated. To celebrate the event, the parish priest asked Cappeau, native from this town to write a Christmas poem. Soon after Adolphe Adam wrote the music. The song was premièred in Roquemaure in 1847 by the opera singer Emily Laurey.

This was recorded at mass in St Mary's Church Carrick On Shannon, Co. Leitrim on the 26th December 2015.
