This is a demo, and is a mix between an original song and an interpolation of 'Skinny Love' by Bon Iver. That song is about a love-lacking relationship. I've always interpreted the song a different way: struggling with food. I was writing my own song about the topic, and I started unintentionally humming the opening line to 'Skinny Love' as my chorus' opening line. I decided to follow through with the idea, and this is the end result. I'm not a producer, and I'm aware of the amateur feel to the song, but I wanted to encapsulate the overwhelming feeling of the topic, and robotic perfection wouldn't have achieved that. I would be interested in actually producing this song with someone.

I've tried to write a description for this song 5 times, and it's feeling really difficult to justify why I wrote it, but I know I had every right to. I love my parents very much, but I've learnt I don't like them. If I had friends with their qualities, they wouldn't be my friend for long. It feels important for people to understand there really is a difference, and healing from something that affected you isn't a declaration of your parents being failures, just that you have the rest of your life to live, and if you have the ability to heal from this psychological barrier holding you back from becoming the next version of yourself, you need to take it, regardless of any splashback that occurs. I also know a lot of people who can't quite articulate how they feel with words, so I felt responsible to give them somewhere to feel heard too. I hope I succeeded, and if any parents are watching this video or listening to this song, please understand there is a difference, and we all still love you. Cheers.

This is a song about the battle between idealism and realism. It's the idea of staying in your head and coming up with these 'what ifs' that make you feel good, but then you stop yourself just before the thought of that being your reality gets too much and you take real action, because you know, deep down, if you were to take action, your idealistic fantasy would be shattered. I'm really struggling at the moment, so I needed to write this.
