Delafield String Band is like a Metro bus ride through the American wilderness. It starts in the Petworth neighborhood, glides past moonlit street corners, stops regularly at the Petworth Citizen, the Argonaut, and festivals and markets, and leaves behind a trail of dark ballads and lonesome waltzes. Jay Nelson drives on bass, pickin' up the tempo and hittin' the hard stops. Wilson Peden holds the line with his flattop, laying down licks, chords and the law. Jake Seligman's old mandolin sparks the engine; his hands are greasy and his songs are desperate. John Nidiry keeps it quiet 'til the groove grabs him and his dobro flashes lightning like a polished hubcab.  And Clint Gentry, well, everybody's just trying to keep him and his deep space banjo from falling off the bus and into music legend.
