Never a band to rush in to things, patience (no, not the dreaded Gary Barlow song) has always been the name of the game for Stoke's Delamere. This lack of haste can't be attributed to a collective laziness however, far from it. It stems from an overt attention to detail and an overall perfectionism, manifesting most recently in the band's forthcoming single 'Headstrong'. 

Built around an impressive juxtaposition of atmospheric verses and driving, frenetic choruses, there's an obvious musicality about this band that belies their relatively young years. Head nestling hooks and emphatic vocals are a Delamere staple, but here both are really brought to the fore; a product of two years of hard work and unwavering self-belief.

In those two years, the band have released a steady stream of sound defining singles, garnering somewhat of a cult following both in their hometown, and their adopted second home of Manchester, which was won over by the sell-out single launch for ‘Do You Want Me?’ at the ever-eclectic Deaf Institute. Whilst that sell-out show might well have been a crowning point in Delamere's early stages, it was the groundwork leading up to that point that really swung things in the band's favour. 
 
Championed by multiple regional radio hosts including Rob Adcock (BBC Introducing Stoke) and Lucee Clarke (6town Radio), the band have also been firm favourites of critics across the net, such as Dave Beech (Louder Than War, Shout4Music). With such support almost from the word go, it was obvious that Delamere had ‘something’ about them. It's that ‘something’ that permeates the entirety of 'Headstrong', making it an engaging listen from one of the UK's most promising young bands.

“I’m not moving, it gets faster, moving slowly and walking backwards,” croons singer James Fitchford on ‘Regress’. Fortunately, the opposite couldn’t be more true. Whilst earlier releases from Delamere relished in an understated spacial awareness, their mammoth choruses somehow blowing them open even further, Bright Young Things leaves behind the shimmering guitar lines and hard-hitting percussion in favour of a sleeker, somewhat subtler sound. Almost.

Much like the band themselves, their debut EP is built around a confident exploration of dynamics; the trademark verses of eponymous lead single ‘Bright Young Things’ as subdued as ever, the choruses cathartic explosions of stadium-sized proportions. The EP also marks a definite step-up in confidence in the production department too (track 3 ‘All of This’ done in-house by drummer Will Mason), the polish of previous releases paradoxically stripped by the cataclysmic sci-fi sounds of the single’s conclusion. It might have been two years in the making, but it seems it was time well spent.

Having spent two years honing their sound, it was inevitable that murmurings of a debut EP would soon follow. And follow they have, the band now ready to unleash Bright Young Things on the world, turning heads with their infectious hybrid of sleek synth-pop and emotionally-charged indie. Having already earned support from such regional radio personalities as Rob Adcock (BBC Introducing Stoke) and Lucee Clarke (6towns Radio), Bright Young Things might very well be the release to push Delamere from the fringe, in to the mainstream.

With DELAMERE's festival season now all wrapped up, new single 'Heart' is set to provide one last dose of shimmering Summer sun ahead of their UK Tour dates this Autumn.
 
Though they formed in the Midlands, Stoke's Delamere are a band met with open arms anywhere they go. Adopted by Manchester, welcomed by Sheffield and recently, even that there London has got in on the act. Having spent a Summer playing various festivals across the UK, most notable of which saw them play every date of Dot to Dot, the band are now looking ahead to the inevitable first album. Before that however, still riding high on the praise that was heaped on their Bright Young Things EP earlier this year, Delamere have rerecorded one of their earliest releases in order to whet appetites just a little more.

More polished than its original iteration, 'Heart' sees the return of the band's emphatic percussion, bringing with it swathes of optimistic synths, rumbling bass and singer James Fitchford's fraught vocal delivery. Where previous singles, 'Bright Young Things', 'Headstrong' and 'Do You Want Me' all offered up a moodier, more frenetic side to Delamere, hinting at both a more electronically-driven direction and a more subdued introspective approach to their lyricism. Following on from those, 'Heart' feels more like a cathartic release; its vast chorus providing a rich landscape that's difficult not to revisit.

With Delamere's festival season all but wrapped up, 'Heart' will provde fans with one last dose of shimmering Summer sun ahead of the inevitable onslaught of Autumn releases. And with the likes of Artrocker, Louder Than War and Backseat Mafia all championing the band for bigger things, it's the perfect track to see where Delamere have been, and more importantly, to see exactly where they are today.
