sometimes i forget that i am no beauty

& so i guess it's just as well.

sometimes i forget that i have this face

kicked in laughed at but not too often what's adored

sometimes i forget there are limits to luck unless it's bad
so when a tiny little light whispers something nice

but tragically fairness is one cagey beast
& has other plans with someone else far better than me.

yeah it still hurts just the same
that shame for forgetting i am no thing of beauty

but still the fact that i can feel it 
means i have not gone completely insane
