Here i play and sing an old song I have heard on a record with Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers. It's probably from the late 1920's early 1930's. The sound here is taken from a video.

This song was a hit with the Memphis Jug Band in 1930. I play guitar and mandolin and sing. Recorded some years ago on a pocket size digital BOSS recorder.

Cocaine Habit Blues

Those who have seen the movie "Brokeback Mountain" might remember this song sung by Willie Nelson. I thought he had written it, but it was credited to Bob Dylan, who sure enough had recorded it on a bootleg recording from 1961, but actually, to my delight, it turned out to be a traditional. So how old and who wrote it I don't know.
Here I sing and play it finger picking style or a change without picks. I play a Blueridge Parlor guitar.

I recorded this some years ago, I had just bought a cheap japanese guitjo I had stuffed with a t-shirt because it was too freakin' loud. Recorded with an ordinary digital camera and the build-in mic.

Don't Get Trouble In Your Mind

Old working song, railroad crews and stuff. First time I play it on the banjo. The first version I heard of this song was with Clarence Ashley on the records he made with Doc Watson back in the 60's. Another fine version is the one Mike Seeger has made for Smithsonian Folkways, which can be found on youtube.

Walking Boss

This is a song written by my on-line friend Ove Ofteness. A new kind of collaboration I haven't tried before. I have tried to make my rendition of it. 
He's on sound cloud too. I make it a bit different. But he seems to like my version of it. I hope.

Alco-Hall Of Fame

Ove Ofteness has written the lyrics for this song and posted it on facebook and asked if there was a melody for it. I thought it was interesting and thought I would give it a try. This was what came out of it.

He found me on youtube, and we soon agreed, that we ought to make some long distance collaborations. Here's the first attempt. He plays the fiddle, and the tapping feet. Then he send the recording to me, and I have then added a guitar track and a banjo track.
Maybe there will be other versions of it later. So stay tuned.

As I wrote yesterday, I've got a new friend on facebook, Paul Kirk Jr. He is an american fiddler. This one is an old Appalachian tune. 
He found me on youtube, and we soon agreed, that we ought to make some long distance collaborations. Here's the first attempt. He plays the fiddle, and the tapping feet. Then he send the recording to me, and I have then added a guitar track and a banjo track. This is the second mix of the same recording. Makes the instruments stand out a bit more. Hope you like it

I have made collaborations with a number of good people from other countries, mainly USA. This is a new collaborator from over there, Eustice T. Jessica is her name on facebook. We have been in touch there for several years. 
She got inspired by the other collaborations I have done and wanted to try. She doesn't play, but she sings. Usually it starts with an instrument, for instance a guitar, to have something to lean up against to keep the pace and the pitch. This one started with Jessica recording a song she send to me, and I made a track with the guitar, and a track singing harmony on the chorus. I am impressed that she could keep the pace and pitch under these circumstances. This is a short first sketch, as we got out of sync halfway through the song. So until we make a better one, this is our first try.

Here's a new collaboration with Gary Werner who lives in USA. I still live in Denmark. Gary send me an original composition of his by mail, where he plays finger picking guitar and and a friend of his, Dave Maszaros, plays bass. I have added a baritone ukulele.

There's also many different lyrics for it.
I try to do a humble rendition here. And though my main instrument is the guitar, I try to pick it on my old japanese banjo.
