This is part of an audio blog series I've decided to create, since the idea for an internet radio show is not yet realized. I enjoy talking about things like mind/body connection and health, dimensional realities, alternate realities, time/space, quantum physics, consciousness, spirituality, matters involving heart-based love(or lack of it), and pretty much anything that is not boring(in my opinion) like movie stars and the latest clothing or electronic fad. ha

In recent years there has been a revival of approaches which give greater autonomy to distinctively political thought, which can be called ‘political realism’, in contrast to ‘political moralism’. The panel discussion will explore this contrast, and ask whether political legitimacy is ultimately a question of one’s moral conception. In this episode of Disruptive, Wyss Core Faculty Member Dave Mooney discusses programmable nanomaterials approaches to fighting disease. Mooney explains how a cancer vaccine, developed by his team and currently in a clinical trial at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, can train one’s own immune system to target specific cancer cells. He also describes the development of novel hydrogels that find application in drug delivery systems and tissue regeneration. Chris Gemmiti, a member of the Wyss Institute’s Business Development team, joins the conversation to discuss the Wyss process of translation and what is involved in bringing the hydrogel drug delivery technology from bench-to-bedside.

This is a recording of a May 13, 2016 discussion and performance by Larry Gomez, accompanied by T. A. Zook on basscello.

Is it possible that the origins of human thought reverberated from the sound of a drum? What can we learn about the drum used by nomadic peoples tens of thousands of years ago? What does the drum have to teach us today? Presenting ideas from his book “The Nomad’s Labyrinth” (http://goo.gl/qru4hV; https://goo.gl/kzRqaP; https://goo.gl/zHHRbs), Larry Gomez took listeners on a philosophical journey in search for the meaning of the shamanic drum.  Along the way he covered contributions by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, whose nomadic thought opened up new ways of thinking about the world around us.  The discussion focussed on how the drum not only serves as a window into another culture but also acts as a mirror that reflects our own.  The discussion was followed by a music performance with Larry on percussion accompanied by T. A. Zook of the group Lost Civilizations on basscello.
