Great local DJs are the glue of our scene. And Tristan Phillips, aka @pastel.past.el, is one we’ve firmly had our eye on for the last 18 months.

Having impressed us at the Finer Things Festival and in support of names like Tom Trago, Moomin and COEO, Pastel has now stepped up to deliver the latest Lost Sundays Sessions. “I had a good time cooking this mix up. Clubs may be shut for the foreseeable future, but ‘Untitled Love Story’ by Wild Reflection is a tasty teaser of what’s to come. It was released on one of Russia’s finest labels, GLBDOM. This track (along with the rest of the album) has been on repeat for me for over a year now. It has the perfect ratio of ‘percussive floor energy’ to ‘atmospheric’ to get me going. 

HATT.D is a producer who I’ve recently deep dived into, introduced via my lovely friend Tom Bruce (of Start Local Records). I’ve been rinsing HATT.D’s whole discography, it’s that good. Keep an ear out for his track ‘Birds At The Lake’ from his recent ‘Welcome to Paradise’ LP, emerging around the half way point of the mix.

Finally, I had to include ‘Good Day’ by Bristol-born artist, Wilfy D. It’s a must-hear UK-garage tune with extra oomph. Don’t mind the backspin, I had go with it!”

The founding idea behind the ‘thought/process’ mix series was to give listeners a glimpse into each of our tastes and styles, and present people with the thoughts and processes that go into creating a mix. 

This marks the end of this series. However, the sun has not set and there will be more to come.

A new figure sashays their way into Bordello. In one hand, a bouquet of carnations, in the other a 12” record. Lauer. Philipp Lauer. Known for his incredible productions on labels like Running Back and Permanent Vacation, not to mention his collaborations, the German all around good guy delivers four gems. The title piece radiates warmth, clean drum patterns giving way to beaming synth bars with vocoder lyrics bopping to the bass. Light hi-hats and a wet snare are the fertile ground from which choral key shifts break to squelching acid in this addictively diverse work. The energy levels spike, like a cork spearing its way from a champagne bottle, for the unbridled enthusiasm of “Frizzante”. Piano stabs, pulsating percussion and an infectious groove. The Summer sun may have set, but Lauer is still at the “Playa” with his playful finale. An off-kilter melody ebbs and flows on a string of rhythms, dreamy tongue-in cheek synth play sailing this 12” off to the horizon.

Delfonic from Berlin, a busy guy that will hit you with his experienced, flawless flow and the skills of a Hip Hop veteran but an open-minded music taste including soulful grooves from new jazz vibes, underground Disco, American House, Breaks and Afro Grooves.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic, is one of the most versatile and informed DJ as they come.

He used to be the key character concerning music knowledge in Berlin. After a long decade at  OYE records store he left the business to become a 100% touring DJ and also to do a series of Dance Jazz Edits (Illegal Jazz) which create a massive buzz in the new house and funky dance world (support from Gilles Peterson, Honey Djoon and many others)

Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop. Delfonic is the model DJ - he’ll warm the crowd up, get them dancing and then provide the scope and context that will keep the heads on board.
