Berlin based producers and DJs, LONGHAIR returns with a brand new EP  ‘HEATWAVE’ 
 
Claptrap’s first release of 2020 comes from Longhair, a Berlin based project formed of two Renate residents Marko Pelaic (Homeboy) & Bene Bogenberger (1/2 of Peak & Swift). The release follows on from their 12" on Renate Schallplatten last year, alongside a previous EP for Bordello A Parigi and remixes for PBR Streetgang’s new imprint. 
 
The Heatwave EP features 3 floor-ready original tracks plus a remix of the title track by Johannes Albert (Frank Music, Fine). The title track ‘Heatwave’ gets things off to a dreamy start with lush pads and a tight rolling tropical percussion. A2 '80s Haircut' follows up with a thumping four to the floor groove and hypnotic bass line to keep the floor packed. Johannes Albert’s take on Heatwave heads up side 2, turning the dreamy vibe into a more upfront euphoric prime-time house stomper. The final cut ‘Pizzamouse' a more relaxed slice of melodic house sees the release out in style with dancing rubbery synth lines which is sure to get those feet moving.

London-based Claptrap label is back with their 4th release. We had a chance to premiere a track from it’s previous release by Donald Dust. This time the label is showcasing Berlin’s talent. Longhair is surely a staple name amongst those who are familiar with what's going on in Berlin’s infamous Salon zur Wilden Renate or just Renate club. The duo consists of Renate’s residents Marko (Homeboy) and Bene (1/2 of Peak & Swift). Guys already made releases on Renate’s own label (Renate Schallplatten) and also on Amsterdam’s stalwart label Bordello a Parigi.  

The brand new Heatwave EP consists of 3 original dancefloor-aimed compositions and one remix from another Berlin’s standout name Johannes Albert, a man behind excellent Frank Music label. It’s really an understatement to say that we’re really happy to premiere Johannes remix for a title track here on Bolting Bits. Johannes is elevating the original dreamy, lush and tropical vibes to the next level by adding some extra early 90’s tinged melodies on the keys, but also keeping the original piano riff in place. More often than not it’s really tough to beat the original version of the track which already sounds close to perfection and it takes real talent to outshine it. We will leave that judgement to your ear and taste buds, but we strongly believe that 

Johannes take on the original gets us as close as defining “balearic euphoric house” as possible. Prepare yourselves to lose an extra pound or two on the dancefloor. Both vinyl and digital versions drop on 28th of February, so pre-order your copy today.

PRÈMIÉRE: Longhair - Pizzamouse [Claptrap]

The premise for Quindi Records is simple – to represent music with a universality at its core. Without adhering to specific genre tropes, the releases are intended to have a meaning and purpose in all kinds of situations – a social soundtrack as much as a stimulating experience, feeding emotions and the psyche with a sentimental palette of sounds. Lovers’ music, loners’ music, music for friends and family alike.
Woo makes for a perfect choice to meet this loose concept head-on – the music of Clive and Mark Ives straddles disparate worlds and finds its own peculiar balance. On one hand it’s delicate synthesizer music with a minimalist bent, while on the other their joyous, twinkling harmonies have an immediacy that speaks to the soul. You can detect privacy in their craft – the brothers originally recorded their music in relative isolation in London in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. It’s only in recent years their sublime work has enjoyed a wider audience through an extensive run of reissues.

"Arcturian Corridor" presents a rare, previously unreleased piece of music from Woo – the expansive suite of the title track that unfurls across five parts. It’s an enchanting listen that shows a new breadth and depth to the duo – detailed drum programming and a broader palette of synth tones cascading in elegant unison. The name refers to Arcturus, the fourth brightest star in the night sky. As Woo themselves explain, “The Arcturian Corridor is said to be a channel of light that brings unconditional love and wisdom from Arcturus to Earth.” In addition to the 20-minute A-side piece, Woo also presents a new version of “Love On Other Planets”, a standout piece from their 1990 album Into The Heart of Love . The fragile subtlety of the original has been embellished here with rich new passages that turn it into a kind of electronica epic, although still marked out with the sensitivity one expects from a Woo record. Two remixes complete the set, both furthering Quindi’s modus operandi as a genre-agnostic force for cosmically charged music. Dublin’s Wah Wah Wino collective present their Wino Wagon manifestation for a tastefully strange house version of the fifth part of “Arcturian Corridor” that channels the freakiness of Pepe Bradock, the robo-funk of Metro Area and a soupcon of pop nous. British duo Ultramarine maintain the stylistic ambiguity as they channel decades of expressive experimentation between live band dynamics and machine soul on their version of the title track’s second chapter.

Una Vida De Barrio is a eleven-track comprising compilation dedicated to the artists' favorite football players and emerged when artists gathered for weekly football matches in Berlin's Kreuzberg district around six years ago. Ik Wist Het, Philippe Albert refers to Belgian defender Philippe Albert, whose phenomenal goal against Manchester United and World Cup performances in 1994 can be entitled as the most prominent moments in his career. The track Ik Wist Het, Philippe Albert by Harry Baldi, better known as famous Belgian producer Nicolas Geysens, is an extremely addictive disco-id take with a driving bass line and a catchy basic-synth, which receives melo-support by additional pads and sounds and make it an continuous blissful experience – sounding so simple yet being so diverse due to its musical multifariousness. But not only does the track tribute to Philippe Albert it also honors and refers to Riff's track from 1987 called Jack Live.

Una Vida De Barrio will be released on June 12th, 2020.

EXCLUSIVE: Harry Baldi - Ik Wist Het, Philippe Albert [Una Vida De Barrio]

From corner to corner thousands of bodies were packed into the stands, rip roaring whoops and cheers were joined by choruses of chants that echoed through the air. Suddenly the whistle sounded and the mood changed. Jeers and sighs rung out from one end, enveloped by the energetic noise from the other side. As the player made his way to the penalty spot the tension in the stadium became palpable, a deafly silence spreading quickly through the stands as onlookers held their breath. This final kick of the game could change everything. 

Much like music brings people together, so does football, regardless of where you're from. So is the case for a group of DJs and musicians based in Berlin but with roots all over the world who, for six years, have been playing at a small pitch in Kreuzberg 61. Together they've produced 11 tracks (of course), with each one dedicated to the producer's football hero, compiled by coach Tristan Jong AKA Gratts and brought to life by Markus Lindner AKA Delfonic. Titled Una Vida De Barrio, after the graffiti scrawled on the wall of their football cage, the release touches on all corners of the musical pitch, from techno, deep house, disco and broken beats, created by artists like Trujillo, Harry Baldi and Nemorna. Our pick comes from the pairing of The Checkup & Project89; the track title a tip of the hat to The Flying Dutchman AKA eternal number 14 Johann Cruijff.

Around six years ago, a bunch of djs, musicians and music lovers started gathering for weekly five-a-side football matches on a small, run-down pitch in Kreuzberg 61. Because much like music, football brings people together, wherever they are from. This release collects tracks by players from seven different nationalities, all based in Berlin, united by both their love of the beautiful game as well as their passion for electronic club music. 

Eleven tracks are on offer (what did you expect?), each one dedicated to the composer's football hero. As such, the tracklist forms an all-star fantasy "Mannschaft". Compiled by player-coach Tristan Jong (aka Gratts) and made possible thanks to Markus Lindner (aka Delfonic), the package lives between corner flags techno, deep house, disco and broken beats. It features music by established underground artists like Venezualan digger Trujillo, We Play House Recordings stalwart Harry Baldi or Juliano as well as debuts from the likes of Nemorna, James Martin and plenty more indeed.

Five of the tracks are pressed loud onto vinyl as a club sampler - including full artwork comprising some of the team pictures taken throughout the years - with a free download link to the complete 11 track compilation. "Una Vida De Barrio", then? That's what the graffiti on the wall of the football cage says. Sometimes you don’t need to look for a title, it finds you.
Auxerre born Juliano picks the great Corentin Martins, nicknamed “Coco Martins”. Every weekend, his incredible goals were the highlight of little Juliano’s youth.

Delfonic from Berlin, a busy guy that will hit you with his experienced, flawless flow and the skills of a Hip Hop veteran but an open-minded music taste including soulful grooves from new jazz vibes, underground Disco, American House, Breaks and Afro Grooves.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic, is one of the most versatile and informed DJ as they come.

He used to be the key character concerning music knowledge in Berlin. After a long decade at  OYE records store he left the business to become a 100% touring DJ and also joining Kapote to do a series of Dance Jazz Edits (Illegal Jazz) which create a massive buzz in the new house and funky dance world (support from Gilles Peterson, Honey Djoon and many others)

Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop. Delfonic is the model DJ - he’ll warm the crowd up, get them dancing and then provide the scope and context that will keep the heads on board.
