The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

The Future Disco brand has been renowned for their iconic compilations since 2009. With an A&R reputation for compiling and releasing credible collections and the digital landscape giving labels more freedom than ever before, it seems like the perfect time to unleash singles on the label, keeping to the 21st Century Disco sound they have carefully crafted since day one.

The first release on the label comes from Vhyce, a producer from Belgium who makes funk laden house and delivers a remastered version of his dancefloor hit Just To Make Me, including brand new remixes from ONSRA (Exploited) and Till Von Sein (SUOL, Dirt Crew Recordings).

Chevals' Labour of Love EP is a collaboration between French producer Valentin Orrit and Brooklyn based label, HOMAGE. It is an attempt to purvey a greater cultural message that pays tribute to those who work fruitlessly to support their freedoms, their families, and their passions.

When it comes to producing dance-floor ready edits, few are doing it better than Tilman and Johannes Albert. Having started the label Fine together back in 2016, these German-based lads have used their imprint to share their takes on some of disco's greatest tunes from the past. In their upcoming release titled The Weekender, the two have decided to join forces once again by coming out with a 4-track EP that will have DJs around the world chomping at the bit to rinse them out in their sets.

The lead track from the EP is called "Beach Reach," and was produced by Mr. Albert. Fans of the British funk band Delegation will instantly recognize this song as an edit of their original "Stand Up Reach For The Sky." Johannes is quite respectful in his rendition of the tune, leaving a lot of its key elements intact. Instead, Johannes chooses to up the intensity by using expertly selected guitar riffs and percussion to create looped melodies which transform the song into an unadulterated groove!

Detroit Swindle present ‘High Life’, their second studio album due on the 28th May on the duo’s own Heist Recordings. The heart of the album was recorded over a three week period at their Amsterdam studio in March 2017, and the release will coincide with the fifth anniversary of the label.
Since forming in 2011, the Dutch duo have carved a unique place for themselves in the scene. Their sound - which merges references from multiple decades into one smooth aesthetic - quickly rose to popularity for its careful blend of soul and rhythm, taking cues from their passion for obscure records, with influences ranging from house and funk to afrobeat and soul. Dynamic live shows and DJ sets afford them a packed touring schedule across the globe, whilst their label Heist Recordings is credited with consistently breaking new artists.
The album explores the intersection of live and electronic music, with much of the improvised material left largely untouched to maintain its organic sensibilities. Detroit Swindle describe the album as an "electronic album with a live approach, combining our love for house, ambient and jazzy harmonics, making it a record interesting for the club, as well as a pleasant album to put on at home."
‘High Life’ explores stripped back soul and groove driven house over ten glistening productions.
Featured on the album are a sun-drenched collaboration with British singer/songwriter Tom Misch and a deep workout with the vocals of trained gospel singer turned house aficionado Seven Davis Jr. Lorenz Rhode, who accompanies the duo for their live shows, features on the infectious melodies of ‘High life’. ‘Call of the wild’ incorporates none other than Dutch nine-piece brass band Jungle by Night, whose stunning improvisations were recorded in the Red Bull Studio in Amsterdam.

On the flipside, Pampa’s figurehead takes an expert turn at the controls of “It’ll All Be Over (DJ Koze remix).” The original’s jagged edges are buffed out, and shined up into a gleaming disco house anthem. With its artfully timed strumming breakdowns and cowbell accents, it is an appetising teaser of the forthcoming summer.
