Here's the WOLF Music release to coincide with Record Store day. It's that man Medlar delivering the goods. The A side, Body Action has been causing quite a stir since it was included in Medlar's excellent Solid Steel mix last year. With it's recognisable vocal hook and piano line, it stood out amongst the high calibre of records included.

On the flip Aya Chan is a brand new cut but channels Medlar's love for classic 80's labels such as West End & Prelude.

Veteran NYC producer and DFA regular @the-juan-maclean hops on the RNT wagon for a rolling EP of drum-machine driven grooves for the Reserve sub-imprint. The record starts with the peak-time stomper Fine Time, building exquisite tension and release through looped and filtered samples, and then moves on to the boogie-infused swing of Don’t Stop For Nothing. Everybody Clap leads off side B with a soulful and string-laden vocal over a bouncing hi-hat-focused house arrangement, and the EP closes out on the dubbier tip with the eponymous Panic In Fort Greene Park, a synthy and smooth slow burner. All around beautifully produced and eminently playable, Señor MacLean has made himself a most welcome addition to the Razor-N-Tape family with this dynamic EP.

Body Music (Bosq and Vito Roccoforte (The Rapture) return with another dose of 21stcentury mutant-disco and nocturnal New York swagger. Following up on their lauded Just One EP (Razor 'n Tape), the new two-track 12” delivers on the epic stomp and punch of that debut with two instant classics.
 
A-side Don't Think Twice is a tightly modern and muscular re-imagining of some long-lost Paradise Garage-era gem, replete with head-snapping claps, an expansive sonic palette and full strut groove. While, low-slung flip-side Give My Love a Try rolls on a flirtatious arpeggiated bass-line and gasps of steamy synths that make it the perfect vibe to open or close a party. Lending soulful and sultry vocals across both cuts is Christian Holiday. Holiday darts in an off the slick synth stabs and bouncy live-drums of Don't Think Twice and reaches a yearning falsetto that draws out the romantic swoon of Give My Love a Try, helping elevate the scope and craft of both tracks.
 
Hooky and virulent, it’s a venerated sound that fits seamlessly into sets of Arthur Russell, ESGand Liquid Liquid classics with a crisp and deep production that remains infectiously of the moment. At parties from Brooklyn to Ibiza, this 12" will no doubt be a go-to slice of wax coaxing dancers to move a little closer all summer long.

PREMIERE: Body Music - Give My Love A Try (Instrumental)[Heads In The Clouds]

Africa Seven presents A7 Edits. The African reissue and compilation output slides over to the dancefloor with its new edits label, packing both holsters with edits alongside sought after originals, a combination you don’t see all that often. The man in charge of the first edition is Stefano Ritteri, who has seen recent releases on Freerange and Congoloid, has DJs like Axel Boman regularly playing his edits and has his own imprint Viaggio set to drop in 2019. Stefano is a producer where sampling is key to his creative process and unreleased edits of African and other worldly delights have made up a lot of his DJ sets of recent. 

With the A-side we see Stefano take on Ekambi Brillant’s 1976 Nyambe, originally released on BBZ productions and later featuring on our African Funk Experimentals series. Stefano takes the Cameroonian’s disco number, extends it, speeds it up and adds a whole lot of dancefloor energy, with a well-constructed break down and party-time drop. Stefano manages to create the perfect dancefloor weapon with this one, maintaining a lot of the original energy and reintroducing it into the 21st century.

On the B-side we have Stefano’s interpretation of one of the more psychedelic numbers that we have released on Africa Seven, with Zinabu from Bunzu Soundz, originally featured on their 1976 in demand Afrodisia album. This edit sees the Nigerian psychedelic highlife lift off into space, with trippy sound effects playing on top of chunky sampled drums and a well thought out bass line whilst the guitar solo competes against the vocals for lead position. 
A7 Edits offer with this release the opportunity to see how the artist has interpreted two original works on the same record. This being Volume 1, it goes without saying that we have others on the way.

Here we have a landmark release for the powerhouse label that is Toy Tonics. Founder of the label Kapote or Munk as he used to be known back in the Gomma days is releasing his first LP under said moniker and also the first LP of the label. It's a blinding album filled to brim with variations of House, Disco, Italo & Latin edged beats. We've chosen 'Fuck Music' to show you today, A track we've been playing in every set since we got it. Pure filter funk magic. Chunky & Delicious.
