Can u feel it? This is cleary one the most iconic quotes in a classic house track from the mid 80ˋs. Influenced by this era i was always into creating a mood in music where you can let yourself loose and just be yourself. I made this 3 tracks with quite some time inbetween but somehow i always come back to a certain pattern and feeling and so it turned out these would fit together for an E.P.

@RocksteadyDisco is a Detroit-based boutique record label and party series that was launched in 2014 by Peter Croce. Their aim is to continue the tradition of house and disco in the Motor City while maintaining an eclectic sound that transcends beyond the two aforementioned genres. Jazzy and afro influences are just as likely to be heard in their catalogue as are deep Detroit-inspired chords, staying true to their roots in a modern way. One thing you are sure to find throughout RSD's releases and their events are funky bass lines and rhythms made to make you dance.

RSD006, "Standing Still Is An Illusion" comes from @BlairFrench81 a producer and DJ who's been honing his skills for a number of years under his own name and a number of aliases such as Dial.81, BLKSHRK, Cosmic Handshakes and Nois Land. Keeping his releases mainly on labels from his close-knit Detroit community, he's back this time with a solo EP for Rocksteady Disco. This three track EP features fantastic grooves and percussion throughout with the B sides 'Ayiba I Yeri O' and 'Pagode Americano' sampling no-nonsense Afro and Brazilian numbers meant straight for the dance floor.

Our premiere, the A1 and title track 'Standing Still Is An Illusion' is a bit of a journey at slightly over 9 minutes long but it's one that you're going to want to embark on. Featuring Topher Horn, Paul Randolph and Ryan Gimpert, there's a load of instrumentation on this one from the early jazzy ride groove and deep bass that serves as an intro, to the rhodes chords, guitars and bongo rhythms found later on. Despite a number of change-ups in the arrangement, it still feels like one coherent piece. Subtle adjustments in percussion and a number of different instruments are introduced at regular intervals, giving the impression that the majority of the track was jammed out first and then fine-tuned and re-arranged. If you're looking for a tune that's got a little bit of everything - grooves, melodies, percussion and fantastic instrumentation, then you've come to the right place.

After a few years of steadily pushing out some significant pieces of work that have increasingly straddled the line between originals and edits, and nearly a decade of studio experience, his long overdue official house music debutante has arrived. Featuring detroit local soul artist, Coko Buttafli laying down some blistering vocals with a clearly positive house music message, on top of live percussion and keys, and bold analog drum rhythms, pontch has created a solid diva-house gem. The sneaky festival-ready banger, “Loose”, performed, mixed, and overdubbed live, provides some fantastic contrast and versatility to the release. A Mr. G-esque remix by DJ phenom Just Alexander and

All Nite Tonight is a previously unreleased instrumental version and gets us bang up for Pina Colada whilst donning only the spiciest of summer shirts.

Brooklyn based, DJ Monchan aka @dailysession, steps up to perform some surgical edit wizardy on four mouth-watering tracks for the ever-dependable Razor-N-Tape.

'Reaction Control' kicks things off with a joyous disco gem extending and echoing those killer groovers to create a whirlwind of dancefloor delight. Next up, 'Dance It All Out' has a touch of the exotic highlife sound to it but reworked into a DJ friendly irresistibly bouncing jam.

Flip it and it's back to the late-night NYC soirees of the 70's with 'Can't Promise' channelling that pure unadulterated fun into an ethereal edit of magnetic proportions. Taking the final slot of RNT042 'Get Down With Your Love' closes out proceedings with a sliky smooth soulful heater.

It's been three years since the last instalment in the "Giant Cuts Presents" series, so this fiery and funky four-tracker from Mexican hero Hotmood is long overdue. He's naturally in fine form, brilliantly joining the dots between loopy disco edits, James Brown and groovy deep house on tasty opener "The Rhythm Is There", before serving up a slightly deeper flavour of disco-house on the dewy-eyed bounce of "My Darling (Dina)". Doc Jam does his best Tiger & Woods impression on his loopy and life-affirming house revision of "The Rhythm Is There", while closing cut "Tropical Space" is an inspired fusion of jazz-funk, disco-house and evocative tropical jazz samples bringing  the summer vibes for the cold winter days.
