German-born, Amsterdam based don Retromigration (AKA Malik Kassim) steps into the big leagues, letting loose his debut album on WOLF Music. ‘Straight Foxin’ contains fourteen expertly executed tracks, ranging from hazy beats and jazz-tinged broken rhythms to club-ready groovers, deep excursions, soulful footwork and even some jungle energy. An LP that has long been in the works (and for good reason), it’s packed with a flavour for every occasion. You just know a long player from this player is going to cover all bases.

Over the past few years, Retromigration has built up a loyal following and gained solid support from tastemakers within the electronic music press and radio landscape. For example, BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, Worldwide FM, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Phonica, Ransom Note, 5 Magazine, Bolting Bits, SlothBoogie all giving his music their seal of approval. With representation from one of the scene’s most credible DJ agencies, Sounds Familiar, Retromigration has also got a busy international DJing schedule and will be touring to support the album release. With an impressive run of releases via Handy, Healthy Scratch, wewillalwaysbealovesong and WOLF in a relatively short space – Retromigration has established himself as hot property and it’s clear to see why. A distinctive style and energy permeate his tracks with a breadth of influences on offer, from hip hop, to jazz, soul to funk.
 
His debut LP, ‘Straight Foxin’, is a carefully curated and crafted journey showcasing the creative explosions firing off in his brain. Joining the dots between genres, taking elements from here, ideas from there – twisting and turning yet never out of place. Take the opening three tracks, all of which are tied together by a deep fondness for jazz, served up in different styles. ‘Kunta’ kicks off proceedings with a hazy and low-slung blend, ‘Formant’ leaning into the realms of broken beat and DnB and ‘Be Someone’ cruises in with the off-kilter house.

Elsewhere, there’s prime examples of Retromigration’s signature sample-laden house with deeper cuts like ‘Mada’ and ‘Bouncer’, sitting side by side with more soulful explorations such as ‘New Cribs’ and ‘ITWT’. As we delve deeper into the record another course of Retromigration’s expansive taste is served up, with four high-energy hits. The bouncing footwork flavours of ‘Kush Love’ ft. Passion Deez and ethereal excursion ‘What If’ lead into a captivating nod to the heydays of jungle and DnB on ‘Mild Fever’ and ‘Bad Knees’ respectively. Straight Foxin, mad flexin – Retromigration has laid down the law with this LP, a debut album done right.

It sure has been a long time coming but finally Vince Watson is back with a new album that follows up his well regarded debut from some 20 odd years ago, Biologique, and sophomore effort Moments In Time. Another Moment In Time is a rich house exploration with a tendency towards the deep and always magical melodies. It's timeless and tasteful material that is all expertly arranged and executed from the gentle piano joys of 'Peace Of Mind' to the reflective and jazzy chords of 'Lost In The Deep'. One of the cuts, 'Rendezvous' has appeared in a different form on Carl Craig's Planet E but here gets a 'Finale' version that brings classic house drums with widescreen synth work and warm chord vamps.

FHUO's sophomore EP moves from a quartet format to a split EP between the bossman and the Paris-based Parviz, who makes his vinyl debut on the release. The record starts off with Folamour's "Very First Touch". A live clap and crowd sample opens the doors for a hazy build of  pads and jazz licks to come through. Parviz then makes his appearance via "100 Crown Bills" a more up-tempo house track that places groovy piano and guitar riffs and a mean flute over a bouncy bass and drum kit. On the B-Side, Parviz' "L'Estaque" lays some buttery jazz-funk loops down over another dancefloor-oriented beat. In Dust We Trust is an ode to a collection of friends who share a certain understanding, who live by a love and respect for the people around them. That friend who saves that last puff for you, that friend who will share their drink with you when you can't afford your own, that friend who will learn how to drive a car on the spot because you're too drunk to make it home.

Kicking things off with a release from Chaos In The CBD, ‘Accidental Meetings’ is a record that celebrates this way of living. The four cuts effortlessly move you through a journey of delicate textures and atmospheres. It begins with the late night basement sounds of the title track, then sends you through the spacious and meditative ‘North Pole Cafe.’ The wild rhythms of ‘United Identities’ hypnotise you, until you find yourself spat out by the energetic grooves of ‘Distorted Fields.’

Play it in the club, play it in the hotbox, or play it for your mum, this record is filled with soulful, rhythmically complex, melancholic music that is unmistakably dusty.

Globe trotting crate digger Daniel T, exploded on to the scene with a string of releases after his amazing debut Tetrachromat on Young Adults a couple of years back. Daniel has been growing some serious gems in his laboratory. Two gems that have come to maturity and have been plucked for the Fahrenheit/Celsius EP on Cosmic Pint Glass records.Daniel has crafted something special in these two cuts. Beautiful, bouncy and positive tracks that work as well on the dance floor as in the soundtrack to a road trip. After hearing them, CPG called in their top men Lauer and Jack Pattern for remix duties.

PREMIERE :  Yusuke Yamamoto - The End [Série Limitée]

The still fresh Label "Foul & Sunk" is about to release their fifth EP, and still not an year old! This time ist is the debut single from Oldschool-House affictionado Borrowed Identity. Though still young, you could easily believe that he was there since the beginning, producing a fusion of Detroit- and Chicago- Style House with his own up-to-date Flavour.

And he got the fantastic Mark E to finish the A-Side of this 4-Track Record with a remix!

The A Side starts with "Stimulation". And that's a perfect name for this track that comes with a really dry and classic combination of smashing snairs and a bumping bassline, soon accompanied by a spheric synth that sends you flying on the dancefloor. This one's a soon to be classic that feels like produced with the trippy afterhours of grimey underground clubs in mind, but can be played at every part of your set – if you play it right, that is.

The A2 is the Mark E Remix No.9 of "Stimulation". And it draws a clear line between everything called "edit" and a proper remix. His own Interpretation of this track reminds of a steam machine, gaining force as it rolls forward, using the sounds of the original mix to build up a totally different energy – one that is demanding but at the same time keeps you going and wanting more.

The B Side doesn't come short, either.
"Faith", the first track on the Flipside (if you're a vinyl lover) is a bit more laidback, but on the dancefloor a huge shaker! Smooth keys and soothing vocals paired with a straight kick, thriving drums and a perfect snair to top it off . Smooth, but sill made to dance to.

The B2, "Enter the Void", is a track that's more than worthy to finish off this wonderful record. It's the deepest of the pack and an 8-minutes monster of a track that takes it's time. Dub meets House and shows how Deephouse can and should sound like.

All in all a true gem that will not go out ouf style as long as there is House.
