About This Release:

"If there's a true Soul diva in Portugal, her name is Marta Ren". Record Kicks proudly presents the debut single of our brand new signing, Marta Ren & The Groovelvets. The Oporto's combo breaks into the scene with this explosive double sider 45. On the A side the Marva Whitney inspired, TNT Dynamite deep funk's track "2 Kinds of men" backed by picnic days smashing hit "Summer's gone (didn't swim)", with a super cool video with already loads of plays on YouTube. These two old-school pearls, brilliantly supported by super tight 8 pieces rythm & soul's combo The Groovelvets, show Marta's immense talent on vocals. Marta Ren & The Groovelvets are currently in the studio, recording their debut long play scheduled on Record Kicks for end of the year. Marta has been around in the Portuguese scene since the mid 90s lending her deep and powerful voice amongst the others to break-beat outfit The Bombazines, recording two albums and establishing her unique talent at clubs and festivals all around Portugal. But Marta's passion has always been for the deepest funk and rawest soul of the sixties and now is time for her to go on by herself.

Italian talent Pirupa is back on Rebirth one year after the awesome 'Clarity Of Love' with another huge vocal track !

This time Pirupa meets Bajka...born in India and currently living in Berlin, Bajka is vocalist, lyricist, songwriter and a poet..She travelled with her family, raised in Portugal and South Africa and she studied music in Prague, but her special relationship with Asia is still the main theme of her poetry today. Records, Pirupa has recently remixed the legendary Jamiroquai for Universal, and also Sharam, Westboy, Riva Starr, Pitto and Nice7 among the others. His success in the studio led to rank at  #11 in the Top100 Most Charted Artists of 2010 on Resident Advisor and has landed Pirupa gigs at some of the most prestigious clubs in the world, gracing the decks of many leading venues and festivals ! 

Bajka says ‘Even when we go through hardshops, we need to stay balanced despite the struggles and no matter how lonely or injust life can be. Never let go of trust in ourselves’

A couple of great remixes complete the package.  youANDme delivers his best remix turning the original into an epic version, a soulful techno cut... tight kick drums and percussions, a strong acid synth...and when the strings and the vox come in the break...woww
