Reflections of An Era - Psydub psybient chillout dance electronica

Silver Bear Recordings proudly welcomes Kilig back to the label with his new single, ‘It’s Trying To Be Light, But It’s So Dark’ releasing 10th December. After first joining the roster with his breakthrough Blue Coat, Red Dress EP, the London-based producer returns to the imprint that helped set the tone for his early trajectory, bringing with him a deepened, more introspective evolution of the sound he debuted on Silver Bear.

Kilig has long been recognised for weaving industrial textures, minimal frameworks and ambient sonics into a distinctly modern interpretation of London’s electronic landscape. His work has earned support from Ben UFO, Call Super, Saoirse, Batu, Overmono, Midland and consistent radio play across BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, NTS, and a global network of specialist stations. His music continues to resonate widely on streaming platforms as well, with standout editorial placements across Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.

The single drifts between delicate atmospheres and subtly shifting rhythms, echoing the palette that first introduced him to the label while pushing further into the trip-hop and ambient influences he’s recently embraced. Speaking on the new release, Kilig shares:

“Around this time of year my mornings are everything. It's the only daylight I properly get to enjoy. Days seem to eat themselves, and by 3pm, we're in darkness again. I get that winter is for clubs, but for me I'm hunting something to wind down to. 'Its Trying To Be Light, But It's So Dark' encapsulates that feeling. This time of year I’m drawn to more trip hop and ambient music; lots of super delicate vocals and organic sounds. Best served with a big hot chocolate and double dose of marshmellows xx”

The single stands as both a homecoming and an expansion, an artist returning to a label that helped define his early sound, now equipped with a matured, more spacious sonic identity shaped by years of creative exploration.

Vishuddha (Sanskrit: विशुद्ध, IAST: Viśuddha, English: "especially pure"), or Vishuddhi, or throat chakra is the fifth primary chakra according to the Hindu tradition of tantra

The Bija Mantra is the syllable हं haṃ, and is written in white upon the chakra. In the Bindu, or point above the mantra, resides the deity Sadashiva, who has 5 faces, representing the spectrum of smell, taste, sight, touch, and sound and 10 arms. The right half of his body is a white Shiva, and the left half of the body is a golden Shakti. He is holding a trident, chisel, sword, vajra, fire, a great snake, a bell, a goad, and a noose, and is making the gesture of dissipating fear. He is clad in a tiger skin. His Shakti is Shakini, who is shining white, seated on a red lotus, and with five faces, three eyes each, and four-armed, with a bow and arrow, noose, and goad.

My Musical Journey
----------------------------

After a lifetime immersed in trance & various forms of electronic music, my creative journey began back in 2009 when I started learning to DJ. Not long after I began playing PsyTrance sets for the MerKaBa Tribe parties & festivals across Jersey & the Channel Islands, which felt amazing, seeing so many happy smiley people, dancing, laughing, connecting….I wanted more :)

Pretty soon after, I turned my focus towards my real passion, the wonderful world of psychedelic chill out. This music has done so much good for me, I struggle to put this into words. It has lifted my broken spirit more times than I can remember, in ways that feel deeply healing & nourishing. This was it, this was what I wanted to focus on, creating musical journeys that help heal & nourish us, help recalibrate & come back to ourselves in this crazy, crazy world. If I can even help one person then that is enough.

My ‘Dreamtime Diaries’ series of psybient / psychill mixes is a great example of this work, covering all facets of the psybient world. Around 2017, I lowered the tempo again, creating ambient journeys for use in mediation, yoga, treatments, ceremony or any other situation where genuine immersion into the moment is required.

Around 2012, I branched out into music production. In 2016 I released my debut EP, and have been creating weird or wonderful sounds since then. Also in 2016, I co-founded the Unity Tribe Collective which hosted local trance parties, with the intention of bringing the local community together. Currently I am enjoying playing a monthly chill out radio show for Widgeon Airwaves & am working towards my latest EP, which will hopefully be out later this year.
