Always on the enemy

the room was breathing slow.
Machines kept time like fading drums,
the light began to go.
I saw his eyes turn soft and dull,
the spark just slipped away —
and in that silent, weightless space,
I wondered where we stray.

Between two worlds, we drift and fade,
the heartbeat slows, the fear decays.
And maybe death’s not black or white —
just the dusk before new light.

The scientists say it's only brain,
the neurons dim, the fire’s gone.
But I have seen that final change —
and it felt like moving on.
No angels came, no trumpets blew,
just peace, so strange, so kind —
and I thought, if this is leaving life,
then life has done us fine.

We hope that you find a psalm for every season of your life – for times of hope and encouragement, times of despair and crying out to God, times of joy, and times of praise.
