Continuing their extensive V/A series, the sixth installment of Various Artists is coming to the French Accents Records label. With eighteen tracks, the ACCENTVA006 compilation is a creative, open-minded curation aiming to promote an “outside the limits of the overly codified deep techno field” approach to music. The album is a diverse, loosely defined selection of ambient, experimental, and techno works from well-known and rising talents, spotlighting new faces among regular contributors to the label.   

Produced by the Brussel-based co-founder of Norite label and DJ Souleiman Bacar, aka lunar convoy, Delta Trancer is a hypnotic ride into a dubbed down, no-hustle territory. 

First, it grasps attention by the signature trip-hop(ish) groove, steadily proceeding with the confidence of an engine driven over the acid bass-line. Next - a shattered, almost imbalanced breakbeat progression, like a curtain, slightly opens inner workings. Then - promptly building back the rhythmic harmony - this time with a synthesized injection of the satisfying, energetic burst. Powered by a no-nonsense slow-burning internal combustion, the track moves towards the softer, somewhat inhabited, mesmerizingly soulful side.

His Master's Voice makes his second appearance on Delsin. Late 2019 the low-profile German producer released his first EP on the label backed with a remix by Vril — who's taken care of the mastering on this EP again. 'Carry On In My Name' contains yet again four original works of engaging electronics.

It's a fresh combination of dusty break-beats and stuttering rhythms boosted by rough, yet emotive melodies. A very well balanced pack melting together all sides of electro, drum & bass and glitchy atmospheres.

Dutch producer @nthngnthng returns to Delsin with another four pieces of melodic, ambient-spirited techno following his 2017 label debut Turn To Gaia. Sub-Sonar opens with the beatless, melancholic reflection of ‘Looking Outside’ before drifting into the submersion chamber pulse of ‘Liberate Truth’. Guided by the hypnotic allure of dub techno, the track follows a linear path through spacious chord drops and understated drum jack. Following a similar rhythmic tract, ‘Sub-Sonar’ offers up a cloudy, sombre beatdown shot through with winsome sine wave blips. As a surprise parting shot, ‘1 2 Butterfly’ shakes up the scene with a crooked breakbeat treatment which cuts an angular path through the hazy atmospheric tones nthng has made his own.

Prague's @Harmony-Rec are on a new tip with a fresh and exciting sound, and the party collective and vinyl imprint look to expand their borders further, tapping close friend of the label @Shoall for an EP unlike any the producer has released to date.

Patterns of Perception returns with a snapshot of the Finnish scene: a collection of fast psychedelic techno from Helsinki artist HOMI with a slow-burning remix from VC-118A.

Inspired by fast '90s techno in the vein of Detroit legend Rod Modell, the record is at turns delicate yet powerful, high energy yet melancholic. It also marks a turning point for the artist, coinciding with a shift away from a pure jamming approach and an expansion of his music-making techniques in the studio, adding greater depth and complexity to his output.

Our premiere for today, SmallBisnes, comes as a bonus track of the digital edition, and it fits perfectly for closing this excellent release. SmallBisnes is a quirky breakbeat techno voyage with synths that ebb and flow over the rumbling groove, slowly easing the tension and creating tranquility toward the journey's end.

The release was mastered in Berlin by Patterns of Perception's Andreas Maan, with artwork by fellow collective member Ray Pham. PTN02 will be available in record stores and digitally via Bandcamp and other platforms on November 4.

Channelling his own explorations in search of the soul inside the machine, VRIL draws from the deep well of his live performances to present his third LP for Delsin, Animist. Inside lie 12 pieces which seem to probe at the unknowable distance between tangible consciousness and the astral plane, imbuing even the most seemingly synthetic of materials with a living essence. Given his illustrious back catalogue, it’s no surprise to hear VRIL conjure explicitly electronic music with such loaded emotional impact and seemingly organic animus, but in the process he also toys with the idea of how far the technology’s spiritual potential can reach.

Moving through the mountains, the car illuminated the dark road ahead, guiding them as they careered around corners and darted amidst the mist.

It was cold outside, they had been in transit for some time - nestled in their cabin whilst the glimmering white of the snow capped hills was reflected in the glow of the headlights.

The nights were long here in the thick of winter, he imagined it might all look very different in the summer when the snow had melted and the green had returned.

For now he was happy being lost in the murky white abyss beyond the windows.

Donato Dozzy remains one of the most intriguing and thought provoking producers and DJ's out there - making him a perfect candidate for a remix of Bas Dobbelar & Vand. This one delivers in mood and tonality as you might expect - deep moving dance music underpinned by intelligent sound design and a key understanding of ambience and texture.
