MONTHLY NEW - August (4/4)

Sometimes I find myself struggling to uncover whether you’re a lover without a tongue or a friend who’s just body. I could not understand how two people could meet so intimately full of fire, yet be at loss when the presence of terminology would hover, scrambling up from its cave of comfort, begging to be fed. Now I find that the uncertainty has itself become a new fire, and I loll in its cool desperation, wondering when the smoke will cease. 

'Derrumbes y Escaleras' is the first single to be taken from Mexico-based producers Iñigo Vontier & Theus Mago's first ever collaborative album. Alongside remixes from Zillas On Acid and Saiko, Bristol-based producer Chez De Milo’s take extends upon the original track, which draws inspiration from the Indian board game “Snakes and Ladders” as well as the hallucinogenic mushroom "psilocybe caerulescens", popularly known as "Derrumbe” and formerly used in pre-hispanic religious ceremonies. Chez De Milo expands upon the ancestral flutes and psychedelic spurs in the original track, converting the melody into distorted vocal chops that fly over the undercurrent of percussion.

For the labels first release of 2022, Idlestates have curated a blend of no-nonsense EBM with grittier industrial electronics. The 13 track VA compilation welcomes a host of new artists to the label whilst continuing to showcase returning favourites such as Meshes, Magnum Opus, and MVQX. The album titled ‘The Semiconscious System’, arrives with several dancefloor ready anthems whilst allowing a meltdown through intervals of raw industrial sludge.

Everything had been done a certain way until the new boss arrived. Madrid-based producer Fernanda Arrau has called on another group of artists to contribute to the third compilation on her United Colors of Rhythm label. She's continuing her commitment to spotlight artists from different countries, this time bringing on board producers from Chile, Spain and Mexico - namely Alejandro Paz, Moo Moonster and Parissior, Nico Castro, Pvlomo and Kresy. The collection of club-ready tracks connects the dots between electro, house, wave and indie dance, whilst connecting like-minded musicians who hail from all over the world.

Twin Dive is a rock’n’roll band from Vilnius with charisma at their forefront, consisting of Eglė (drums), Robertas (vocals and bass), and Jonathan (guitar). Despite having formed just a year ago, they have already made a name in Lithuania's alternative scene. After debuting at the “Novus” festival, they have performed at “Loftas Fest”', supported BA. in Juoda Palanga, and wrapped up the winter season with a bang at “Rokodiskoteka”. The Bicep boys are absolutely smashing it at the moment.

Their last release on Aus included 'Just' and the spacey banger has been smashed on pretty much every soundsystem around the globe.

For their next release they return to their own Feel My Bicep imprint, alongside fellow Northern Irishman Hammer, for a rework of that very same banger. The 'Go' (Flanger mix) is a different edit of the track that's been causing a stir (born in the same studio session as 'Just' believe it or not) and we've got the premiere.
