DJ Hell and Radio Slave are Radio Hell for REKIDS200. Celebrating the label’s landmark release, the two legendary producers team up for a massive two-tracker with artwork from Alan Oldham, aka DJ T 1000.

From the electro-influenced intensity of ‘Radio Hell’ to the melody infused techno of ‘Lost Souls’, ‘This is Radio Hell’ is a release worthy of its creators' reputations as two of the most recognisable names in dance music over the past few decades and beyond. With both tracks clocking in at over 11 minutes, the release is epic in every sense of the word and is a fitting 200th release celebration for a label that has hosted some of the finest names in house and techno since its inception in 2006. 

DJ Hell, founder of International Deejay Gigolo, curator of the Museum of Modern Electronic Music, DJ since the late 1970s and acclaimed producer, is an icon of modern dance music and culture. Drawing lines between photography, art, design, fashion and music, Hell has worked with Sven Marquardt, Tom of Finland, Balenciaga, lectured at the Munich Chamber of Architects and created his own fragrance, all whilst holding down residencies at Tresor, E-Work and Watergate throughout his career. 

Radio Slave, aka Matt Edwards, is responsible for some of the most recognisable techno tracks in the genre, including ‘Grindhouse’, ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’, ‘Another Club’, and many other timeless cuts. His collaboration work with Joel Martin as Quiet Village and solo work as Radio Slave has received critical acclaim, and he remains one of the most in-demand and consistent remixers around.

Rekids is one of electronic music’s most bankable imprints, having played host to the likes of Nina Kraviz, Robert Hood, Joe Claussell, Mr. G, DJ Deep, Theo Nasa and Alinka. Reaching its 200th release, Matt Edwards’ imprint shows no signs of slowing down, with forthcoming releases from Mark Broom, A Sagittariun, and Roman Flugel scheduled for 2022.

Inigo Kennedy has been with Token since the beginning. With a strong existing catalog stretching back to the 90s, Kennedy produced the first Token release from a place of confidence, with an EP of bold and dark, yet playful and seriously storming techno tracks. Since then he has been consistent in delivering a succession of releases that are always surprising, but instantly recognisable as fitting with his own polished sonic identity. This impressive body of work includes the full-length LP Vaudeville, in which he explored the many facets of his abilities as a producer, from atmospheric heights of ambience to murky and claustrophobic pacing grooves.

Now for Token 62, his double A-side NGC EP continues with a theme originating from the final track on Vaudeville, delving into the aesthetics of the interstellar clouds of Cygnus and Draco. The EP as a whole is swelling, melodic and subtle, with the AA-side NGC6543 named after the ‘Cat’s Eye’ nebula, taking its time with warm crescendos and crisp splashes of percussion to activate a meridian body response. NGC6826 (Blinking Eye) pulsates with a broken beat, the rhythm just pausing for a classic melancholic refrain before returning to force for its finale.

@LykosRecords' catalogue gets its second instalment by Rome-based @OutpostLive. "Tacita Muta EP" is a four-tracker including two original tracks as well as remixes by Ness and Nørbak. Monument premieres one of the original tracks from the release that is out on August 26th.

Delsin’s sister label Ann Aimee (pronounce it however you like) has unearthed another techno talent here in the form of Yan Cook. The Ukrainian has collaborated with a number of people in the past, as well as working under aliases like Eigenes Rezept, but is now focusing on his own style fully: heavy dancefloor techno with haunting atmospheres.

Listen to his (vinyl only) 2x2 EP and you’ll get the picture immediately: ‘Rhomb’ is as heavy and subterranean as they come. Apocalyptic sounding searchlight synths pan over the whole arrangement as microbial sounds busy them selves in the foreground. Vast, echoing claps seem to hang in the air and you can imagine someone like Dettmann dropping this in Berghain to a rapturous reception.

‘2x2’ bangs the box even harder – the kicks hammer the same spot over and over rather than rolling onwards, where the gradual forward motion instead comes from the rattling, melting synth chords that flood the arrangement each bar. This one’s aggressive and raw, splintered and forceful: Yan Cook’s grip on the dancefloor, then, is a firm one to say the least.
