It is our divine pleasure to welcome back to the fold one of our favourite ever guests. We've hosted Dave twice now under the guise of both his record labels Hustler Trax and Closer To Truth and both mixes have received overwhelmingly positive responses!

Today Dave returns under his Closer To Truth Label (co-run with Alex Agore) based down in Bournemouth. Closer To Truth  focus on intrinsically deep records with luscious rolling deep basslines, elements of jazz, dreamy vocals & soul however they do suprise with the odd bit of bump 'n' swing. Their back catalogue boasts EP's from Henna Onna, Jason Hersco, Tree Threes, Immersif, Tiptoes, Milton Jackson, Marlon George & Intr0beatz to pick from just a few!

We're delighted to say that this mix features plenty of forthcoming & exclusive records signed to Closer To Truth with varied release dates from later this month to early next year. For the latest release on their Kaninchenbau label, an outlet focused on "sample-based, pseudo-original tracks", Funk District have recruited sometime Scruniversal, DOBRO, SlothBoogie and Moiss Music contributor I Gemin (real name Mike Popov). The Russian producer begins in suitably dusty and woozy fashion on 'Floraison', a lolloping, sample-rich MPC house head-nodder smothered in jazzy Rhodes licks, before working some dewy-eyed, Hammond-heavy soul loops on the gorgeous 'Mercy On Me'. He moves closer to classy disco-house/deep house fusion territory on 'Natural Born 4', while the breezy and sunset-ready 'The Truth' sees him turn a gorgeous cover of a Marvin Gaye conscious soul classic into a jazzy deep house gem.
