As mentioned, Persephone is a selector based out of Portland, Oregon who is musically influenced and motivated by the feeling of what it means to be human. Using music as a tool for creativity and healing, Persephone looks to connect with others through the palpable experience of movement and the music. With styles drawn from experimental, techno, electro, EBM, acid, industrial, noise and more, Persephone has made a name for themselves in the Portland underground community playing events such as False Prophet, Circuit Breaker, Gays Hate Techno and has also been featured on KBOO radio.

GEM (Division) takes the techno material of GEM (Process) and overthinks it, morphing it into dark mutant electro. It stretches musical ideas, moving them around in the spectrum and time, and iterating on the same two ideas until they merge into a melancholic chaos. Acid lines contort themselves into tangles; melodies and arpeggios appear only to fall into frequency smeared obscurity. GEM (Division) is a growing complexity, with favor for a disposition that can't stop thinking about it, for better or worse.

"The first ever PDX techno compilation represents the diverse sounds of the Portland, Oregon techno community with 30 trax and remixes produced exclusively by Portland-based artists.

PDX is home to a growing community of producers, live performers and DJs dedicated to the wide-ranging sounds of underground techno. You might find them at a DIY intimate warehouse event, an east side dive bar, a house party, or one of the city’s few established nightclubs. Their sounds run the gamut -- from pounding, industrial techno and acid, to dub techno, minimal, psychedelic and experimental blends. While their approaches vary widely, they share a passion for the music and a love of the community.

Now, for the first time, a group of these artists have come together to create the PDX techno compilation. What started as a conversation in a techno-focused Facebook group has culminated in 30 original trax and remixes by artists from across the PDX community. This community led project was organized by by Mad Midi Collective with support from local label SubSensory Recordings and more than 20 participating producers. The release also features original artwork by Whitsitt Goodson, which was lovingly cut by hand and photographed specifically for the project.

The problem is that we do not notice how the years pass. Spit on the years passing, we don’t notice how things are changing. We know that everything is changing, we are taught from childhood that everything is changing, we have seen many times with our own eyes how everything is changing, and at the same time, we are completely unable to notice the moment when a change occurs, or we are looking for a change not there, where should be. The future is something you can't touch, feel or perceive. Future is not set.
Portland's Dark Leader rarely pamper us with its fantastic releases but when he does, he doing it top notch. This time the sixth release marked by its hometown man Etbonz, with 3 amazing tracks.
The titule track, "The Future Is Not Set" which we premiering today, has anxious, but so nice, driving bassline underpinning it with wonky effects, playful hooks and builds into a peak time killer. Cheeky stabs and dramatic pads only add to the urge the track fills you wrap yourself around and scan the dance floor to make sure there is no terminator around you.
