As the Summer draws to a close Serge Devant returns once more to Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels with the highly infectious ‘This Moment’ EP. Serge original tracks are accompanied by a great Dinky remix, to complete this great package.

Opening up the EP with ‘This Moment’, Devant has created a track that implores the listener to stop and take in all the vibrations, effects and melodies. This is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an addictive horn. Pay close attention to ‘In Time’ and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. On the flip and Dinky adds her signature vocals, and hooky synth stabs creating a deep and textural remix of ‘This Moment’.

Tim Engelhardt & BOg - No More Words [Innervisions]

On October, 20, 2017, analog Electronica / Shoegaze duo Aris Kindt will release their second album, Swann and Odette on Francis Harris’ new imprint Kingdoms.
While this record seamlessly picks up where their first record (2015’s Flood) leaves off, the sonic palette is dee- per, the grooves more sparse and the melodic content allowed more room to seep deep within a mix so trans- parent as to feel nonexistent. This is heady, opulent stuff, immaculately produced and cunningly arranged ways that sidesteps easy classification without sacrificing ac- cessibility and authentic feeling.
Aris Kindt is the collaborative project of guitarist Gabe Hedrick and Francis Harris (Scissor and Thread). Harris has previously released the Albums Leland (2012) and Minutes of Sleep (2014), both of which have been sited “for (their) extensive use of live instruments, a contrasting feature to his work done before” (last.fm, 2016). To this formula Hedrick adds his own sonic signature in ana- log-effects laden electric guitar. Collectively the album swells and hums to create a seamless interplay of ana- log synths and otherwordly musical notations cast loose from their origins.

Their first full voyage of the year, ‘Ark’ is a stately piece of techno noir theatre designed to wrestle the choppiest of dancefloor seas. A multi-layered narrative laced with crispy arpeggios and strange otherworldly talkbox textures, it’s an oceanic titan that ploughs through the heaviest of elements with grace and majesty.

‘Doppt’ takes us to the next waymark on the map. Gently rhythmic from the moment its first shakers kiss your ears, we’re soon satiated with tightly plucked percussive elements, subtle humanised textures and a sense of momentum that’s tightly coiled with suspense and drama in a way that only Super Flu know how.

Finally our feet touch terra firma with the mysterious afro house maverick Hyenah as he provides an earthy remix stampede. Flexing between African rhythms, powerful 4/4s and a tantalising breakdown salvo, it’s yet another sterling revision from the masked beast… And another exceptional Monaberry trip from the one and only Super Flu.
